Use your mechanical design experience to create realistic scenarios and assess AI-generated answers. Your feedback should reflect practical engineering methods and help improve AI performance.
- Create design problems based on real CAD, tolerancing, and manufacturing workflows.
- Evaluate AI responses for technical accuracy, manufacturability, and practical engineering judgment.
- Write structured feedback that explains your assessment clearly.
What it pays and takes
- Pay: Up to $75 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible, part-time, ongoing project work with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement.
- Location: Open to candidates in the United States. Work remotely and asynchronously.
- The role calls for substantial industry experience in mechanical design and a portfolio of manufactured designs and complex GD&T or FEA work.
- Hands-on mechanical engineering experience and depth in parametric CAD, GD&T and design for manufacturing, or FEA and simulation are required. Candidates who meet at least two of the three core qualifications are encouraged to apply.
- Strong writing, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex design concepts clearly are required. A BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Experience with multiple CAD or simulation tools is helpful, including SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, or Onshape. A portfolio showing designs from concept through manufacturing can demonstrate practical judgment.

About AI training work
AI training work uses human-created examples and feedback to help improve AI systems, including by reviewing model responses. People with mechanical design expertise can contribute practical judgments that general-purpose examples may not provide.
OpenTrain is a platform for finding AI training and data-labeling roles, building a profile, and applying in one place. Creating an account is free.
