About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help experienced freelancers consolidate proof of work, discover specialized projects that match their skills, and grow a durable portfolio in the human side of AI.

  • Work remotely and manage AI training opportunities from one trusted profile.
  • OpenTrain supports experienced contributors who want to turn evaluation work into a lasting freelance practice.

About AI Training Work

AI training (often called data labeling or human feedback work) is how real people teach machine learning systems to behave. Evaluators design rubrics, rate outputs, and write defensible justifications that guide model behavior and improve real-world performance.

This role sits at the intersection of marketing expertise and AI evaluation—your marketing judgment directly shapes how models produce campaign ideas, messaging, and creative work.

  • Most work is 100% remote and flexible; many evaluators fit projects around other commitments.
  • No special software skills are required beyond careful reading and clear written reasoning.

The Role

You will design precise, task-specific grading criteria and evaluate both AI-generated and human-created marketing deliverables. Your written justifications must explain scores clearly so decisions are reproducible and defensible.

Deliverables may include creative briefs, campaign concepts and decks, brand positioning and messaging frameworks, ad copy and scripts, integrated campaign plans, and client-ready presentations.

  • Role type: Contractor, part-time.
  • Data type: Text evaluation and structured ratings (EVALUATION_RATING).
  • Languages required: English.

What You'll Do

Apply your marketing experience to build rubrics and evaluate work against business objectives and creative briefs. Maintain consistent standards and adjust scoring per project guidelines.

  • Create precise, repeatable rubrics for real-world marketing deliverables.
  • Score work samples and provide clear, defensible written reasoning for each rating.
  • Judge whether a submission meets the brief and business goals.
  • Apply consistent standards so results are reproducible and defensible.
  • Refine scoring approaches based on project guidelines and reviewer feedback.

Requirements

You must bring professional marketing experience and the ability to explain decisions in writing. Prior experience with AI training or evaluation projects is a plus but not required.

  • 5+ years of professional marketing or advertising experience.
  • Background as a creative director, account lead, brand strategist, or senior brand marketer.
  • Fluency in creative briefs, campaign development, brand positioning, and messaging.
  • Strong written communication and the ability to explain scoring decisions clearly.
  • Detail orientation and comfort with structured review.
  • Prior AI training, evaluation, or human-data project experience is a plus.

Compensation & Schedule

Hourly pay ranges from $80 to $150 USD. This is remote contract work; you control your schedule within project guidelines.

The listing notes a time requirement of 20+ hours/week and specifies a default commitment of 40 hours/week—confirm expected weekly hours before you begin each project.

  • Pay: $80–$150 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR, USD).
  • Default commitment: 40 hours/week; minimum project requirement listed as 20+ hours/week.
  • Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Worldwide: Open to contributors globally who can work in English.

How It Works

Apply through your OpenTrain profile and include examples of relevant marketing experience. If accepted, you'll receive project onboarding, scoring templates, and access to the evaluation interface.

You will be asked to follow project-specific rubrics and quality checks; consistent, well-justified scoring is how evaluators build reputation and win future projects.

  • Onboarding includes task training and sample evaluations.
  • Expect periodic quality reviews; refine your approach based on feedback.
  • A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you discover more projects and turn evaluation work into a long-term portfolio.
