About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Machine Learning AI Response Evaluator to create rigorous, domain-relevant questions and assess AI-generated responses for accuracy, logical consistency, and technical soundness. The work focuses on machine learning concepts including optimization, generalization, model behavior, probabilistic modeling, statistical learning, and technical problem-solving. This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity with flexible hourly contract work that can fit alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

What you will do
- Design challenging questions grounded in machine learning theory and applied mathematics.
- Review AI-generated content for technical accuracy, logical consistency, and sound reasoning.
- Evaluate responses involving optimization, generalization, model architectures, probabilistic modeling, and statistical inference.
- Provide clear feedback that helps improve AI systems' understanding of machine learning and technical problem-solving.
- Contribute asynchronously during active project periods, with typical participation of approximately 5-20 hours per week.

Required skills
- Doctoral study, postdoctoral work, or graduate-level completion in machine learning or a closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning theory, algorithmic analysis, and applied mathematics.
- Familiarity with optimization, probabilistic modeling, and statistical inference.
- Ability to judge whether technical explanations are accurate, logically consistent, and well supported.
- Prior AI evaluation or technical evaluation experience is not required.

Helpful background
Relevant backgrounds include statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, and research involving model behavior, statistical learning, or machine learning algorithms.

Work arrangement
This is a fully remote opportunity with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hour requirement. Active project participation is generally part time, and the role is designed to complement academic research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

Compensation
Compensation is offered at up to $75 per hour.
