About Legal AI Training

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Legal experts review model-generated content, identify errors and weak reasoning, compare alternative answers, and provide feedback that helps AI systems produce more accurate and useful responses.

This work combines professional subject knowledge with careful evaluation. Your legal analysis can help improve how AI systems handle issue spotting, statutory interpretation, citations, procedural context, and explanations.

  • Review and evaluation work supports the development of AI reasoning systems
  • Contributors help identify inaccuracies, bias, and logical weaknesses
  • Work is remote and can fit around other professional or personal commitments

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Legal AI Evaluation Expert to review AI-generated legal analyses and expert legal content. You will assess accuracy, clarity, citation support, doctrinal correctness, issue spotting, adherence to the prompt, and the quality of explanations and model solutions.

You will compare multiple responses and rank them according to correctness and reasoning quality. The role requires precise written feedback and strong attention to jurisdiction, procedure, governing rules, and logical consistency.

  • Focus area: Legal Reasoning Evaluation
  • Data types include text-based AI outputs
  • Evaluation activities include RLHF, response rating, and text generation

What You’ll Do

You will apply structured legal reasoning to model outputs and explain your assessments clearly. Your reviews will help distinguish accurate, well-supported legal analysis from responses with factual, doctrinal, procedural, or logical weaknesses.

  • Review AI-generated legal analyses and expert legal content
  • Evaluate reasoning quality, issue spotting, and adherence to the prompt
  • Fact-check citations, legal rules, and doctrinal statements
  • Write clear feedback, explanations, and model solutions
  • Compare and rank multiple responses based on correctness and reasoning quality
  • Identify inaccuracies, bias, and logical weaknesses in model outputs

Requirements

Applicants should have a law degree or an equivalent background in Law, Legal Studies, Public Policy, or Political Science. The work requires strong legal reasoning and the ability to translate facts into elements, defenses, and structured legal analysis.

Previous experience with AI data training, expert review, legal editing, or quality assurance is preferred. The role is listed as entry level, but candidates must be able to perform careful, specialized legal evaluation.

  • Law degree or equivalent background in Law, Legal Studies, Public Policy, or Political Science
  • Strong grounding in constitutional law, contracts, torts, criminal law, civil procedure, and regulatory or administrative law
  • Strong skills in statutory interpretation, case analysis, legal reasoning, and issue spotting
  • Ability to assess citations, governing rules, jurisdiction, and procedural posture
  • Experience reviewing or editing legal analysis, expert responses, or quality assurance work
  • Ability to write clear, structured feedback and rank model answers
  • High attention to detail and logical consistency
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency

Who Should Apply

This opportunity may suit legal professionals, legal scholars, and candidates with relevant legal, public policy, or political science training who want to contribute to the development of AI systems. It is especially relevant for people who enjoy analyzing competing arguments, checking authorities, and explaining why one response is stronger than another.

OpenTrain supports contributors building durable experience in AI training and data labeling. Your completed work can contribute to a professional profile that demonstrates specialized evaluation skills.

  • Legal analysts who enjoy detailed written review
  • Candidates with strong statutory, case, and doctrinal analysis skills
  • Professionals comfortable assessing multiple answers against legal standards
  • Contributors seeking flexible, remote work in a growing AI field
