Why AI training matters

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work behind machine learning: people provide the examples and reviews that let models learn to recognize buttons, icons, text, and more.

This type of work is highly accessible, often remote and flexible, and a great way to contribute directly to cutting-edge systems even at an entry level.

The role

You will label buttons and small UI icons found in photos. Each image typically contains 5–6 buttons or objects that need annotation.

Annotations are done with bounding boxes and polygons because objects often appear at an angle or with perspective distortion; accurate polygon outlining is frequently required.

  • Pay: $0.05 per labeled item (PAY_PER_LABEL).
  • Work type: Contractor, worldwide.
  • Data type: Images; labeling tools: Label Studio.

What you'll do day-to-day

Open each image in Label Studio and identify every button or icon. Choose the correct label shape (bounding box or polygon) and trace the object closely, following project guidelines.

Ensure labels include both the icon area and associated text where present, accounting for tilt, occlusion, and perspective so the resulting annotations are precise.

  • Annotate 5–6 buttons per file using bounding boxes or polygons.
  • Adjust polygon points to follow inclined or skewed elements accurately.
  • Follow the project's labeling instructions for consistency and quality.

Requirements

This is an entry-level role: no prior labeling experience is required. You should be detail-oriented and comfortable working with images and a browser-based tool.

You must have a reliable internet connection and a computer or modern smartphone capable of running Label Studio.

  • Entry level — good attention to detail and visual accuracy.
  • Reliable internet and a device (computer or phone) to run Label Studio.
  • Ability to follow written labeling guidelines and maintain consistency.

Tools, quality, and payment

Label Studio will be the platform for all annotations. You will receive project-specific instructions and examples inside the tool.

Work is paid per label at $0.05 per annotated object; as a contractor you are paid based on completed, accepted labels. Quality and adherence to guidelines determine acceptance.

  • Labeling software: Label Studio.
  • Payment model: PAY_PER_LABEL — $0.05 per labeled item.
  • Contractor engagement — schedule and workload are flexible.

How to apply
