OpenTrain is the #1 platform for starting and growing careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with meaningful, remote work that directly shapes how modern AI systems behave.
We hire contractors for focused, project-based roles across software, language, vision, and audio tasks. This role is staffed by OpenTrain AI and is a long-term project focused on Kotlin code authoring and review.
Why AI Training Work Matters
AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human review) is the human backbone of model development: examples you create and verify teach models how to write, reason, and program. Contributors enjoy flexible, remote work and the chance to influence state-of-the-art systems.
This project focuses on programming content: your Kotlin work will be used to build and validate training datasets that help models produce correct, idiomatic code.
The Role
We are looking for skilled Kotlin developers to produce code snippets and short programs from prompts, and to debug and refine Kotlin code generated by AI. This is a long-term engagement (6+ months), remote, contractor work.
You will set your own schedule within a weekly commitment of 20–40 hours. Work is paid hourly at $9.50 USD.
What You’ll Do
Create accurate, well-documented Kotlin code samples and small programs from written prompts.
Review, debug, and optimize Kotlin code produced by AI; rewrite or annotate outputs to meet project quality standards.
Author concise Kotlin functions, classes, and sample programs that demonstrate correct syntax and idioms.
Identify bugs and logical errors in AI-generated code and provide corrected implementations.
Annotate code with explanations and edge cases so training data is clear and useful for models.
Follow project guidelines and quality rubrics to ensure consistent dataset labeling.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the project’s baseline qualifications and be able to commit reliably for 6+ months at 20–40 hours per week.
You will receive a Kotlin coding assessment after submitting your proposal; completion of that assessment is required for selection.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
At least 2 years of professional Kotlin development experience.
Proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize Kotlin code.
Effective English communication skills for written instructions and reviews.
Stable internet connection and reliable electricity for consistent remote work.
Who Should Apply
Experienced Kotlin developers who enjoy clear, task-based work and want to contribute to model-quality improvement. Ideal if you like writing small, testable programs and diagnosing tricky bugs.
This role suits contractors seeking flexible, part-time remote work and who can commit to a steady weekly schedule for several months.
You should be comfortable following technical rubrics and providing clear, reproducible fixes.
Entry-level candidates with the required Kotlin experience may apply, but 2+ years of hands-on Kotlin is preferred.
How It Works & Compensation
This is a contractor, part-time position. You will track and log hours and be paid $9.50 USD per hour. OpenTrain AI will administer the selection assessment after you apply.
If selected, you’ll receive onboarding, style guides, and dataset templates to get started. Communication is remote and asynchronous; you’ll coordinate with reviewers and project leads as needed.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
Time commitment: 20–40 hours per week for 6+ months.
Pay: $9.50 USD per hour.
Selection step: Kotlin coding assessment sent after proposal submission.
Lead quality for Kotlin-focused AI training by reviewing AI-generated Kotlin code, coaching contributors, and keeping guidelines current — contractor role at $65/hr for 20+ hours/week. Ideal for experienced Kotlin engineers comfortable with coroutines, Android/JVM, and rubric-based evaluation.
Join OpenTrain AI as a remote Java developer on a long-term (6+ month) contract creating and debugging Java code to build training datasets for large models. Flexible 20–40 hrs/week; $6.75/hr; candidates complete a short Java coding assessment after proposal.
Join OpenTrain AI as a Java backend developer building Spring-based services that support next-generation AI training. This part-time contractor role is remote, requires 20+ hours/week, and pays $20–$50/hr.
