About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling / RLHF / evaluation) is the human work that teaches models what good answers look like. Contributors review outputs, write model answers, and rate responses so models learn correct, safe, and maintainable behavior.

This role blends deep Android engineering judgment with hands-on AI-evaluation tasks—ideal for engineers who want to directly influence how developer-facing AI performs.

• Contributors typically work 100% remote and set flexible schedules.
• Many projects require no prior AI experience; specialist technical knowledge is rewarded with higher-impact tasks.

The Role

You will review AI-generated Android code, architectures, and explanations; produce reference implementations and step-by-step reasoning; and create prompts and model answers that guide AI behavior. Your evaluations will consider correctness, clarity, security, performance, reliability, and alignment with the prompt.

• Position type: Contractor, Part-time (20+ hours/week).
• Pay: USD 110 per hour.
• Work is focused on text-based outputs (code reviews, explanations, and prompts) and labeled as RLHF / evaluation / text generation tasks.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day work mixes hands-on technical review with content creation for AI training. You will compare multiple AI responses, validate implementations, and write clear model answers that demonstrate best practices.

• Review AI-generated Android code for correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Identify problems in Compose UI, lifecycle, threading, networking, persistence, memory usage, and release workflows.
• Write high-quality reference implementations and step‑by‑step explanations.
• Create prompts and canonical answers across Android topics to support model learning.
• Rate and compare responses based on reasoning quality and adherence to the prompt.

Requirements

You must have strong, production Android experience and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly in written English. Preserve the following required skills exactly as listed.

• Deep Android production experience with Kotlin; practical Java familiarity.
• Strong understanding of app lifecycle, Activities/Fragments, state restoration, and background execution limits.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose or Views, including recomposition, state hoisting, and UI performance.
• Advanced knowledge of coroutines, Flow, threading, cancellation, and ANR avoidance.
• Familiarity with MVVM or Clean Architecture, dependency injection, and modularization.
• Networking and persistence experience (Retrofit, OkHttp, Room, SQLite, or DataStore).
• Testing experience across unit, instrumentation, and UI tests, plus CI/CD and release workflows.
• Security awareness: secure storage, auth flows, certificate pinning, and privacy permissions.
• Clear written English and a methodical approach to evaluating technical reasoning.

Compensation, Schedule & How It Works

This is a remote contractor role paying USD 110 per hour for a minimum expected commitment of 20+ hours per week. OpenTrain AI manages hiring and contracting; you will perform text-based annotation and evaluation tasks labeled RLHF, EVALUATION_RATING, and TEXT_GENERATION.
