About AI training work

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human feedback) is the human side of teaching AI systems how to code and reason. Contributors review model outputs, create correct answers, rate responses, and write explanations that improve model behavior.

These projects are often remote, flexible, and accessible: many roles need domain knowledge, attention to detail, or language fluency rather than formal AI research backgrounds.

The role

OpenTrain AI is hiring Kotlin AI Response Evaluators to review AI-generated Kotlin answers, judge correctness and reasoning quality, and produce expert-level explanations and model solutions. This is remote contractor work for experienced Kotlin developers who can assess idiomatic style, architecture trade-offs, and correctness.

What you'll do

• Review AI-generated Kotlin responses for correctness, clarity, and adherence to the prompt
• Write expert Kotlin explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct approaches
• Fact-check technical claims and identify errors in methodology or conceptual understanding
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses by accuracy, clarity, and problem-solving quality
• Create prompts and responses designed to improve AI learning across Kotlin and software engineering topics
• Test models for inaccuracies, bias, and reliability across Kotlin use cases

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on Kotlin development experience
• Strong understanding of Kotlin null safety, coroutines, and functional idioms
• Professional software engineering experience using Kotlin for Android or backend services
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field
• Ability to evaluate idiomatic Kotlin style, design decisions, and architecture trade-offs
• Excellent English writing skills and experience using LLMs for coding, debugging, or code review

Helpful background

• Experience with Ktor, Android Jetpack, or advanced coroutine usage in production systems
• Merged pull requests in Kotlin open-source projects or competitive programming experience
• Previous AI data training, model evaluation, or app-logic review experience

Compensation & logistics

Hourly pay up to $55 (PAY_PER_HOUR; rate: $55/hr). This is contractor, part-time, remote work.

Openings are available across the listed countries. You must be able to work in English and commit to 20+ hours per week.

How it works / next steps

Apply through OpenTrain to be considered for this contractor role. If selected, you'll complete project-specific onboarding and calibration tasks that show how to score and write explanations for Kotlin outputs.

Once onboarded you'll receive micro-tasks or batches to evaluate, produce solutions, and submit ratings and written feedback. Your work directly improves model performance on Kotlin and software-engineering prompts.
