About AI Training and Scientific Safety Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts create examples, review model responses, and provide structured feedback so advanced systems become more accurate, useful, and responsible.

In this role, your scientific judgment will help assess how AI handles specialized laboratory, computational, chemical safety, biosafety, biosecurity, and hazardous-materials topics, including information that may be sensitive or dual-use.

  • Help shape how advanced AI systems handle scientific questions
  • Use expert review rather than prior AI or machine learning experience
  • Contribute to cutting-edge model evaluation from anywhere

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Korean Scientific AI Safety Evaluator to assess and strengthen advanced AI models working with specialized scientific content in Korean. You will create expert prompts, evaluate generated responses, and apply structured standards for accuracy, helpfulness, classification, and responsible treatment of sensitive information.

The role is suitable for an ongoing or completed PhD holder in chemistry, biology, or a closely related scientific field. Your work will combine technical scientific knowledge with careful judgment about safety, security, and dual-use information.

  • Job type: Part-time contractor
  • Default time commitment: 7 hours per week
  • Pay: $63 to $67 per hour
  • Languages: Native or near-native Korean and business-level written English
  • Experience level: Entry level in AI training; advanced scientific expertise required

What You'll Do

You will work with text-based AI outputs and structured evaluation tasks. Your reviews should be technically precise, consistent with the provided standards, and grounded in your specialized scientific knowledge.

  • Write expert-level Korean prompts about specialized scientific topics
  • Review and annotate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy and helpfulness
  • Assess whether responses handle sensitive or dual-use information appropriately
  • Classify prompts and conversations using structured evaluation guidelines
  • Evaluate model behavior involving laboratory and computational techniques
  • Apply scientific judgment to chemical safety, biosafety, biosecurity, and hazardous-materials topics

Required Qualifications

You should be able to evaluate complex scientific content in Korean while communicating professionally in written English. Prior AI or machine learning experience is not required, but strong scientific judgment and technical writing ability are essential.

  • Ongoing or completed PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field
  • Native or near-native Korean fluency
  • Business-level written English
  • Deep familiarity with modern laboratory or computational techniques in a specialized subfield
  • Ability to write technically precise prompts in Korean
  • Ability to assess scientific accuracy and helpfulness in AI-generated responses
  • Strong judgment regarding scientific safety, security, and responsible handling of dual-use information

Helpful Scientific Background

Relevant experience may come from research, coursework, or technical content review. You do not need a previous AI or machine learning background if you bring the required scientific expertise and language skills.

  • Radiochemistry or nuclear chemistry
  • Energetic materials
  • Radiation physics
  • Organic or inorganic synthesis
  • Molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics
  • Chemical safety and security
  • Biosafety and biosecurity
  • Hazardous-materials handling

Why Work in AI Training

AI training and data labeling are growing fields where specialists help shape the behavior of modern AI systems. Scientific evaluators bring expertise that general reviewers cannot replace, especially when models address complex or potentially sensitive technical subjects.

The work is remote and part-time, making it possible to contribute to advanced technology while fitting the opportunity around other professional, academic, or personal commitments.

  • Work remotely with a flexible part-time arrangement
  • Apply scientific expertise to emerging AI systems
  • Build a credible AI training portfolio through OpenTrain
  • Apply through OpenTrain and manage your opportunity in one place
