About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the leading platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers discover projects, consolidate work history, and build a lasting portfolio of annotation and QA experience; creating an OpenTrain account is free.

Why AI Training Work Matters

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human feedback) is the human side of building modern AI. Annotators and QA specialists prepare and correct the examples models learn from, shaping how systems read, understand, and generate text.

This work is especially well suited to flexible, remote schedules and offers entry points for people with language skills, attention to detail, or domain experience.

  • 100% remote work you can do from anywhere in South Korea
  • Flexible hours and part-time contracting—fit work around other commitments
  • Direct impact on how state-of-the-art language and document models behave

The Role

OpenTrain is hiring a Korean Document Annotation QA Expert to review OCR-processed Korean PDF documents and ensure annotations meet precise quality standards. This is a contract, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week, paid at $40 USD per hour.

You will validate and correct bounding boxes, table structures, reading order, and OCR transcriptions; provide clear, actionable feedback to annotators; and confirm documents meet the project's quality bar before submission.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours/week
  • Pay: $40 USD per hour
  • Location: Remote within South Korea (KR)
  • Languages required: Korean (native/fluent) and English (strong written)

What You'll Do

As a QA Expert you will work through a daily QA queue of annotated Korean documents, checking that structure and text capture match detailed guidelines. Your reviews will focus on both layout accuracy and character-level Korean correctness.

  • Review annotated Korean PDF documents and confirm they meet quality standards
  • Check and revise bounding boxes for document fields, text blocks, and key-value pairs
  • Verify Korean reading order, OCR transcription accuracy, spacing, and character-level errors
  • Validate tables: boundaries, row/column alignment, merged cells, headers, and logical hierarchy
  • Classify entities such as headers, footers, charts, tables, and other structured elements
  • Return issues to annotators with clear, actionable notes and escalate recurring problems or guideline ambiguities
  • Confirm reviewed documents meet the required quality bar before submission

Requirements

You must be able to perform detailed, consistent QA on Korean-language documents and communicate findings clearly in English. Prior annotation or QA experience and hands-on familiarity with OCR/document workflows are required.

  • Native or fluent Korean with accuracy at the character level, including spacing, grammar, and usage
  • Strong professional English for written project communication and feedback
  • Prior experience in QA, data annotation, document review, OCR validation, or a closely related role
  • Hands-on familiarity with OCR systems, document parsing, PDF annotation, or structured document review
  • Ability to verify, revise, add, and classify bounding boxes and reading order
  • Ability to review dense layouts, table structures, merged cells, headers, footers, and multi-column text
  • Strong attention to detail, consistency, and a disciplined self-review mindset

Helpful Background and Who Should Apply

This role is a great fit for people who read Korean at a fine-grained level and enjoy structured, detail-oriented review work. Previous experience validating OCR output, working with table structures, or performing document understanding QA is a strong plus.

  • Experience reviewing OCR-processed documents and document understanding workflows is helpful
  • Comfort working at scale across large volumes of documents and applying detailed annotation guidelines consistently
