The role

You will be a Junior Open 3D Engine (O3DE) Software Engineer building interactive 3D scenes and simulations used to generate synthetic data for AI training. This is a contract, part-time position requiring 20+ hours per week and remote work.

Pay is hourly (PAY_PER_HOUR). The project lists a wide rate range ($20–$120/hr); final compensation depends on the task complexity, your verified experience, and negotiated scope.

What you'll do

  • Build interactive 3D environments and simulations in Open 3D Engine for synthetic-data generation and model training.
  • Work with Atom Renderer, the Component Entity System, Gems, and the Asset Processor in production workflows.
  • Write Python and C++ scripts to automate scene setup, asset pipelines, and simulation tasks.
  • Support cloud-based deployment and asset management using AWS infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize simulation performance to meet AI training objectives.
  • Document technical progress clearly and communicate updates to the project team.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the hands-on technical requirements below; these are essential for success in this role.

  • Practical experience with Open 3D Engine and its asset workflows (required).
  • Proficiency in Python and C++ for 3D scene development and automation.
  • Experience building interactive 3D environments for simulation or AI training.
  • Familiarity with Atom Renderer, Component Entity System, Gems, and Asset Processor.
  • Basic knowledge of AWS infrastructure for cloud deployment and asset management.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Background in game development, real-time graphics, or simulation.

Helpful background

  • Previous work on AI training or simulation projects using O3DE.
