About this role
OpenTrain is hiring a Junior Game Developer for contractor work that supports AI training through simple 2D game development. The role focuses on building, maintaining, and improving Java and libGDX game features, including sprite management, game loops, input handling, debugging, code reviews, and clear technical documentation. You will work closely with AI specialists to design engaging game interactions and produce high-quality training data from real gameplay-oriented work.
What you will do
- Develop and optimize simple 2D game features in Java and libGDX.
- Implement basic mechanics such as sprites, game loops, and input handling.
- Troubleshoot and debug game modules for performance and reliability.
- Contribute to code reviews and improve coding standards.
- Document technical processes and game development workflows.
- Collaborate with team members and provide regular status updates.
Required skills
- Basic Java programming and object-oriented principles.
- Hands-on libGDX experience from coursework, projects, or prototypes.
- Understanding of game loops, sprites, input management, and related 2D game concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
