The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Japanese Scientific AI Safety Evaluator to support AI training focused on specialized scientific content. You will create expert-level prompts in Japanese and review model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate handling of sensitive material.

The role is suitable for an ongoing or completed PhD-level scientist in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field. Prior AI or machine learning experience is not required because training on the applicable workflow and guidelines is provided.

What You’ll Do

You will apply scientific expertise and structured evaluation guidelines across repeated review tasks. Clear written reasoning and consistent judgment will be important when assessing both ordinary technical content and questions involving scientific safety.

• Write expert-level prompts in Japanese across specialized scientific topics

Requirements

This project requires substantial scientific depth and strong Japanese-language communication. Your background should support accurate evaluation of technical material within a focused scientific subfield.

• Ongoing or completed PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related scientific field
• Native or near-native Japanese communication skills
• Business-level written English
• Ability to assess scientific accuracy across specialized technical topics
• Familiarity with modern laboratory or computational techniques in a focused subfield
• Sound judgment regarding scientific safety, biosecurity, chemical security, and dual-use information
• Careful attention to detail and strong written communication
• Ability to follow detailed guidelines consistently
