The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Japanese Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated Japanese content and trainer QA work across Japanese AI training projects. You will assess output against project guidelines, provide precise written feedback, identify recurring quality issues, support onboarding, maintain documentation, and help align contributor performance with Japanese language standards, style guides, and rubrics.

What You'll Do
You will combine advanced Japanese language judgment with structured quality assurance. The role includes both hands-on review and coordination work, helping trainers and QAs understand changing expectations while keeping review processes scalable.
Identify recurring quality gaps and escalate critical issues.
Communicate guideline updates, workflow changes, and quality expectations to trainers and QAs.
Support onboarding and training calls.
Maintain FAQs, style guides, trackers, quality notes, examples, and honeypots.
Help activate inactive contributors.
Maintain scalable QA processes.
Provide clear written feedback for trainer and QA coordination.
Requirements
This role requires native or near-native Japanese reading and writing ability, along with strong English communication for feedback and team coordination. You should be comfortable evaluating AI-generated Japanese content against detailed rubrics and recognizing subtle language and localization issues.
Native or near-native Japanese proficiency with strong reading and writing skills
Strong grasp of Japanese grammar, kana and kanji usage, punctuation, keigo, tone, register, and honorifics
Strong understanding of Japan-specific localization nuance
Experience in Japanese writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, or related language-review workflows
Clear English communication for feedback and team coordination
Ability to evaluate AI-generated Japanese content against detailed rubrics
Comfort with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems
Preferred Experience
Prior experience with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, rubric-based QA, or leading remote review teams is a strong plus. The listed experience level is entry level, but the role benefits from demonstrated Japanese language-review or quality-assurance experience.
