About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for an Italian Audio Transcriptionist to produce high-quality transcriptions of spoken Italian audio for AI speech and language model training. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role with tasks including transcribing natural conversations, interviews, and meetings with attention to detail and adherence to style guides.

What you will do
- Listen to Italian audio recordings and produce verbatim transcriptions.
- Accurately capture crosstalk, overlapping speakers, filled pauses, false starts, and other natural speech phenomena.
- Identify and distinguish multiple speakers throughout recordings.
- Handle challenging audio conditions like background noise and varying accents.
- Follow transcription style guides and apply timestamps, speaker labels, and annotation tags consistently.

Required skills
- Native or near-native fluency in Italian, including understanding of regional accents.
- Exceptional listening skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow complex, detailed style and formatting guidelines.
- Strong written Italian with excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with web-based tools.

Helpful background
- Prior experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer.
- Background in subtitling, closed-captioning, or linguistics.
- Familiarity with annotation or data labeling platforms.
