The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an Italian Audio Transcriptionist to transcribe Italian speech recordings for AI training. You will produce precise, verbatim transcriptions of conversations, interviews, and meetings, including natural speech patterns and difficult audio conditions.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role requiring 20 or more hours per week. Compensation is $10-$35 per hour, depending on the applicable assignment.

What You'll Do

• Listen to Italian audio recordings and create precise verbatim transcriptions
• Transcribe conversations, interviews, meetings, and other real-world speech
• Capture crosstalk, overlapping speakers, filled pauses, false starts, and other natural speech phenomena
• Identify and distinguish between multiple speakers
• Handle background noise, varying accents, and other challenging audio conditions
• Apply timestamps, speaker labels, and annotation tags according to project style guides
• Flag unclear or inaudible segments
• Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule

Required Skills

Success in this role depends on strong Italian language ability, careful listening, and consistent attention to detail. You should be comfortable working independently and following detailed instructions across web-based tools.

• Native or near-native fluency in Italian
• Exceptional listening skills and an ear for nuance
