About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review model outputs, write strong examples, evaluate responses, and identify errors so AI systems become more accurate, reliable, and useful.

This role applies professional iOS engineering judgment to cutting-edge model evaluation and reference-answer creation. It is remote, flexible work that can fit around other commitments.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is hiring an iOS Code Review and AI Training Engineer to evaluate AI-generated iOS code, mobile architectures, and technical explanations. You will create reference implementations and step-by-step reasoning for complex engineering problems.

Reviews will focus on correctness, clarity, security, performance, reliability, and prompt adherence across UIKit, SwiftUI, concurrency, memory management, threading, app lifecycle, networking, persistence, and build and release practices.

  • Intermediate experience level
  • Part-time contractor position
  • 20+ hours per week
  • Pay range of $40-$110 USD per hour
  • Open to candidates in Germany, India, Thailand, the United States, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam
  • English-language work

What You'll Do

You will combine hands-on iOS development knowledge with careful evaluation and technical writing. Your work will help distinguish reliable engineering guidance from code or explanations that could create functional, security, performance, or reliability problems.

  • Review AI-generated iOS code and technical explanations for correctness and quality
  • Identify issues in UIKit and SwiftUI implementations, concurrency, memory management, threading, networking, persistence, and release practices
  • Write detailed prompts across iOS topics and produce high-quality reference answers
  • Rate and compare multiple AI responses using clear engineering judgment
  • Fact-check technical information and provide strong model answers
  • Validate reliability across real-world iOS use cases
  • Flag unsafe recommendations and unclear or technically incorrect guidance

Required Qualifications

This role requires production iOS application experience and strong written English communication. You should be comfortable reviewing implementation details, explaining engineering decisions methodically, and comparing alternative solutions.

  • Production iOS application experience with Swift and ideally Objective-C
  • Strong Swift 5+ knowledge, including value and reference semantics, generics, protocols, error handling, and modern language features
  • Practical iOS architecture experience with UIKit, SwiftUI, navigation, and state management
  • Experience with app lifecycle, navigation, state management, and background execution constraints
  • Deep understanding of GCD, OperationQueue, async/await, race conditions, and thread-safety
  • Strong grasp of ARC, retain cycles, memory leaks, networking, testing, Keychain, and privacy-sensitive data handling
  • Ability to review persistence, release hygiene, and production iOS bug issues
  • Clear English communication and a methodical, detail-oriented review style
  • Experience writing clear technical explanations in English and comparing model responses

Helpful Background

The following experience is helpful for evaluating a broad range of iOS engineering scenarios and release-quality recommendations.

  • Familiarity with XCTest and UI testing
  • Experience with CI/CD, Fastlane, and App Store release hygiene
  • Experience with offline-first patterns, caching, and persistence
  • Experience debugging production iOS bugs
  • Prior AI training, annotation, or AI content evaluation experience

How to Apply

Create a free OpenTrain account, build your profile around your iOS engineering experience, and apply in minutes. This opportunity is structured as flexible, part-time contract work for eligible candidates in the listed countries.

  • Highlight production Swift and iOS architecture experience
  • Showcase your understanding of concurrency, memory management, networking, testing, and privacy
  • Emphasize clear technical writing and careful code-review judgment
