About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review, compare, and evaluate model outputs so AI systems can produce more accurate, complete, useful, and professionally sound results.

This role focuses on human preference evaluation: applying expert judgment to realistic legal work products and explaining which output is stronger. The work is fully remote and supports the development of advanced legal AI.

The Role

OpenTrain is hiring an International Disputes AI Legal Reviewer to support a blinded human-preference study for legal AI training. You will examine a realistic synthetic legal matter and its supporting documents, then evaluate multiple AI-generated legal deliverables.

This opportunity is suited to a qualified lawyer with substantive experience in international disputes. You will assess legal work holistically rather than checking only for a single issue, using professional judgment to identify the most reliable and useful outputs.

  • Pay: $100 to $120 per hour
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours per week
  • Work arrangement: Remote and worldwide
  • Engagement: Part-time contractor
  • Working language: English

What You’ll Do

You will work from written instructions and review a synthetic legal matter with the documents supporting it. You will then compare blinded AI-generated work products and explain your preferences clearly and specifically.

Project materials are confidential and must be protected under a non-disclosure agreement. External AI tools must not be used with project materials.

  • Review six blinded AI-generated legal deliverables labeled A through F.
  • Make five head-to-head comparisons against a common comparator output.
  • Record a preference for each comparison.
  • Write a short, specific rationale for each preference.
  • Evaluate correctness, completeness, professional judgment, and practical usefulness.
  • Meet the defined project deadline while working independently.

Requirements

You must be a qualified lawyer with substantive practice experience relevant to international disputes and be able to evaluate legal work product using holistic professional judgment. The role requires precise written English and the ability to apply detailed written instructions independently.

  • Experience in international arbitration and award enforcement.
  • Knowledge of sanctions and export controls.
  • Experience with cross-border disputes.
  • Judgment involving emergency interim relief.
  • Ability to assess legal work for correctness, completeness, professional judgment, and practical usefulness.
  • Ability to communicate preferences clearly in precise written English.
  • Ability to work independently and meet a defined deadline.

Who Should Apply

Apply if you are an international disputes lawyer who can distinguish strong legal reasoning from incomplete or impractical work product. Your expertise will help train AI systems to produce legal outputs that better reflect the standards of experienced professionals.

The project is available worldwide and offers a substantial part-time commitment for qualified contractors who can dedicate 20 or more hours per week.

How to Get Started

Create a free OpenTrain account, build your professional profile, and apply through OpenTrain. If selected, you will receive the project instructions and confidentiality requirements needed to begin the review work.
