About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Specialists provide examples, write model responses, and review AI outputs so systems can learn to reason more accurately and follow real-world procedures.
In this role, your insurance operations knowledge will help shape how AI systems understand policy servicing workflows, transaction sequencing, documentation requirements, and operational quality standards.
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking an insurance policy operations specialist to create high-quality reasoning data for AI evaluation. You will draw on practical experience across policy administration and servicing to design realistic workflow scenarios, produce reference answers, and assess model outputs against established operational standards.
The work covers the insurance policy lifecycle, including intake, binding, issuance, transactions, billing, renewal, cancellation, documentation, and related service processes. You must be able to distinguish administrative execution from substantive underwriting, claims, legal, and actuarial decisions.
Remote contractor position
Available to eligible residents of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, Austria, and Belgium
Minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, with 40 or more hours preferred
Hourly rate of $80 after onboarding
Approximately 10-hour onboarding process with a flat $800 payment upon successful completion
What You'll Do
You will turn detailed insurance operations knowledge into precise tasks and evaluations that help improve AI behavior. Your feedback should be clear, evidence-based, and focused on procedural accuracy, completeness, sequencing, and service standards.
Create processing instructions, transaction reviews, exception-handling plans, service communications, and operational quality checks
Write accurate reference responses for insurance operations workflows
Grade AI-generated responses for procedural accuracy, completeness, sequencing, and adherence to service standards
Identify incorrect effective dates, missing documentation, improper transaction handling, and confusion between operational processing and substantive underwriting decisions
Provide written feedback that helps improve model behavior
Requirements
This opportunity is intended for professionals with hands-on insurance operations experience and strong written communication skills. You should be comfortable explaining chronological workflows and translating procedural requirements into precise, reviewable steps.
At least two years of professional experience in policy administration, underwriting operations, insurance servicing, premium operations, or policy-processing management
Working knowledge of the insurance policy lifecycle from intake and binding through issuance, servicing, renewal, termination, and record retention
Hands-on experience with policy administration systems, workflow queues, transaction controls, or quality-assurance processes
Ability to translate policy and procedural requirements into precise operational steps
Ability to identify incorrect effective dates, missing documentation, improper transaction handling, and operational versus underwriting decisions
Strong written communication, process discipline, and attention to detail
Ability to write precise insurance-processing instructions and evaluate responses for procedural accuracy and completeness
Who Should Apply
Apply if your background includes policy administration, underwriting operations, insurance servicing, premium operations, or policy-processing management. This role is a strong fit for someone who understands how insurance transactions move through systems and can explain what correct operational handling looks like.
You should be comfortable reviewing details, spotting workflow errors, and communicating why a response is incomplete, incorrectly sequenced, or inconsistent with insurance operations requirements.
