About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Expert contributors review model responses, identify errors, write high-quality examples, and explain the reasoning that helps AI systems become more accurate and reliable.

In this project, your insurance knowledge will help evaluate coverage analysis, claims reasoning, underwriting decisions, policy communication, and compliance-aware responses.

  • Contribute to the development of modern AI systems
  • Use professional expertise in flexible, remote work
  • Help models handle ambiguity, edge cases, and complex decisions

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an Insurance AI Evaluation Specialist with expert-level industry experience. You will review AI-generated insurance content, create gold-standard outputs, and assess whether model reasoning is technically accurate, clear, internally consistent, and aware of compliance considerations.

The work spans commercial or personal lines and may involve incomplete facts, coverage questions, claims scenarios, underwriting decisions, policy interpretation, and policy communication.

  • Expert-level insurance role
  • Minimum 5 years of professional insurance experience
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency
  • 20+ hours per week
  • Hourly rate: $40 to $70 USD

What You'll Do

You will evaluate insurance responses against sound professional methods and explain your conclusions precisely. Your feedback will help improve model correctness, clarity, and reliability across a range of insurance tasks.

  • Review AI-generated answers for insurance accuracy, clarity, and compliance awareness
  • Create detailed prompts and gold-standard outputs for coverage, claims, underwriting, and policy communication
  • Compare multiple model responses and rank them by correctness and reasoning quality
  • Identify missing facts, incorrect assumptions, unsupported recommendations, and misleading guidance
  • Write plain-language explanations of sound insurance methods and reasoning
  • Validate outputs across ambiguity, edge cases, and consistency from facts through the coverage position
  • Fact-check policy interpretation, exclusions, endorsements, claims logic, risk assessment, and insurance terminology

Requirements

This role requires substantial professional insurance experience and the ability to explain complex policy concepts in clear written English. You should be comfortable analyzing coverage questions when facts are incomplete and evaluating whether claims or underwriting conclusions are properly supported.

  • 5+ years of experience in claims, underwriting, brokerage, actuarial support, risk management, compliance, or operations
  • Strong knowledge of policy structure, exclusions, endorsements, limits, deductibles, and coverage triggers
  • Experience evaluating claims or coverage decisions across commercial or personal lines
  • Ability to analyze coverage questions when information is incomplete
  • Clear written communication and plain-language explanation skills
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency

Preferred Background

Prior experience with AI data training, claims quality assurance, underwriting quality assurance, policy drafting or review, or insurance editorial work is strongly preferred. A relevant academic or professional credential can further support your application.

  • Prior experience evaluating AI-generated claims or underwriting outputs
  • AI data training, claims QA, underwriting QA, policy drafting, or insurance editorial experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Law, or a related field
  • Professional designation such as CPCU, AINS, ARM, CIC, or AU
