  • Apply through OpenTrain and develop a profile for future AI projects

About AI Language Training

AI models learn from examples prepared, reviewed, and improved by people. Language specialists help models produce responses that are accurate, fluent, culturally appropriate, and aligned with the user's request.

In this kind of work, contributors may evaluate and rank model responses, write stronger examples, identify errors, and provide feedback that helps AI systems communicate more effectively in a specific language.

  • Shape how AI handles Icelandic grammar, style, tone, and register
  • Help identify mistranslations, ambiguity, hallucinated claims, and policy-risk language
  • Contribute to cutting-edge technology through flexible, skills-based work

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an Icelandic Language Review Specialist to assess AI-generated Icelandic content and create gold-standard reference writing. You will review responses for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, register, cultural appropriateness, and prompt adherence.

The work spans general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing. You will also examine long-form exchanges and help maintain consistent terminology and register across prompts and answers.

  • Pay: $55 per hour
  • Schedule: 20+ hours per week
  • Engagement: Part-time contractor
  • Location listing: Iceland
  • Experience level: Entry level

What You'll Do

You will combine careful Icelandic editing with structured AI evaluation. Your written feedback should identify what is wrong, explain why it matters, and show how the content can be improved without changing its intended meaning.

The role calls for consistent editorial judgment across individual answers and longer conversations, including careful attention to factual claims, cultural fit, and potential safety or policy concerns.

  • Evaluate and rank AI responses for correctness, fluency, tone match, and overall quality
  • Rewrite or author Icelandic reference content that demonstrates best-practice writing
  • Fact-check claims and flag misleading, unsafe, or culturally mismatched content
  • Catch mistranslations, meaning shifts, ambiguity, logical issues, hallucinated claims, and policy-risk language
  • Maintain consistent terminology and register across prompts, answers, and long-form exchanges
  • Provide clear written feedback explaining what is wrong and how to improve it

Requirements

You should be a native or near-native Icelandic reader and writer with a deep understanding of Icelandic grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and register. Strong professional English at a minimum C1 level is also required.

A background in linguistics, translation, journalism, communications, writing, editing, or a related field is required. Experience with localization, translation quality assurance, editorial quality assurance, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.

  • Native or near-native Icelandic reading and writing ability
  • Strong professional English, minimum C1
  • Deep knowledge of Icelandic grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and register
  • Experience reviewing translations or AI outputs for meaning preservation and cultural fit
  • Ability to rewrite Icelandic text clearly without changing its meaning
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to justify language choices consistently
  • Familiarity with translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation

Who Should Apply

This opportunity may suit an Icelandic language professional who enjoys precise editing, fact-checking, and explaining language choices. It is also a fit for candidates with relevant training or experience in translation, localization, journalism, communications, writing, or linguistics.

OpenTrain supports flexible contractor work in a rapidly growing field. Your editorial judgment can directly influence how AI communicates with Icelandic-speaking users across multiple types of content.

  • Icelandic language specialists with strong editorial instincts
