The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Humanities AI Training Data Reviewer to support AI training focused on humanities content evaluation. You will review AI-generated questions, answers, and evaluation records, applying subject-matter expertise and established quality guidelines.

Prior AI training experience is not required. Strong humanities expertise, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and precise written communication are the primary qualifications.

What You'll Do

You will assess written AI outputs across humanities topics and provide consistent evaluations that can be used to improve model quality. The work requires close reading, nuanced judgment, and the ability to identify both obvious and subtle weaknesses in responses.

  • Review and evaluate questions and answers across humanities disciplines
  • Assess factual accuracy, relevance, clarity, completeness, coherence, and logical consistency
  • Identify inaccuracies, misleading statements, gaps in reasoning, ambiguities, and other quality issues
  • Judge whether responses appropriately address the questions asked
  • Apply humanities subject-matter expertise to nuanced topics
  • Provide clear, consistent evaluations using established quality guidelines
  • Help improve the quality and reliability of datasets used to train and evaluate AI models

Required Qualifications

You should have at least five years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or academic expertise in a humanities-related field. Relevant backgrounds may include history, philosophy, literature, linguistics, languages, cultural studies, sociology, anthropology, political science, religious studies, or the arts and humanities.

The role is listed as entry level within AI training because prior AI experience is not required. However, substantial humanities expertise and the ability to evaluate complex written content are required.

  • Strong subject-matter knowledge in at least one humanities discipline
  • At least five years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or academic expertise
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical reasoning
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify factual inaccuracies, misleading claims, ambiguities, and gaps in reasoning
  • Ability to assess relevance, clarity, completeness, coherence, and logical consistency
  • Ability to follow detailed guidelines and apply evaluation criteria consistently
  • Strong written and reading English proficiency
  • Ability to work independently in a remote contractor environment

Helpful Experience

Experience with AI training, data annotation, evaluation, content review, quality assurance, or related analytical workflows is helpful but not required. During the selection process, you may be asked to demonstrate your humanities expertise and judgment when reviewing written answers.
