The Human Data Manager Role

OpenTrain is seeking an entry-level Human Data Manager to build and manage workflows supporting annotation, data collection, processing, and analysis for AI training. You will focus on operational performance, KPI tracking, reporting, data integrity, quality, and scalability.

The role is offered as a remote contractor position with part-time availability of 20 or more hours per week. The role description also calls for the ability to work full-time in a remote environment and contribute to a fast-moving team.

What You'll Do

You will combine hands-on workflow management with data analysis and operational improvement. Your work will include designing reliable processes, monitoring performance, and turning findings into practical recommendations.

  • Design and manage workflows for accurate annotation, collection, processing, and analysis.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to improve performance and support data-driven decisions.
  • Analyze datasets and present recommendations that improve efficiency.
  • Maintain reporting frameworks covering key metrics and workflow improvements.
  • Work cross-functionally to align data strategy with operational objectives.
  • Refine processes to keep work scalable, reliable, and high quality.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

This role is suited to someone with technical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and an interest in human-centered data operations. Experience with annotation, labeling, or prompt engineering is relevant, along with the ability to explain data-driven insights clearly in writing and conversation.

A background in engineering or another technical field with an operational focus is preferred. Familiarity with common analysis and reporting tools is a plus, but the listed experience level is entry level.
