The Role

As a Human Data Manager at OpenTrain you will design and manage data workflows that support annotation, collection, processing, and analysis for AI training. You will build reporting frameworks, monitor KPIs, surface actionable insights from datasets, and refine processes to protect data integrity and scalability.

This is a contractor, part-time role with a typical expectation of 20+ hours per week; the description also asks for the ability to work full-time in a remote environment when needed. Compensation is $40–$60 per hour (USD). English fluency is required and contributors worldwide are welcome.

What You'll Do

You will own operational processes and reporting that keep annotation and data-collection projects running smoothly. Expect hands-on problem solving, cross-functional coordination, and regular presentation of data-driven recommendations to improve throughput and quality.

• Design and manage robust workflows for annotation, collection, processing, and analysis.
• Establish, monitor, and report KPIs to drive performance and data-driven decisions.
• Analyze datasets, identify bottlenecks, and present actionable recommendations.
• Maintain reporting frameworks that track key metrics and workflow improvements.
• Work cross-functionally to align data strategy with operational objectives.
• Refine processes to keep operations scalable, reliable, and high quality.

Requirements & Qualifications

We welcome applicants with an entry-level background who can demonstrate technical aptitude, attention to detail, and strong communication. You should be comfortable with human-centered data work and able to translate dataset findings into clear recommendations.

• Experience with human-centered data work such as annotation, labeling, or prompt engineering.
• Ability to design or improve data workflows and operational processes.
• Comfort analyzing datasets, tracking KPIs, and reporting on quality metrics.
• Strong written and verbal communication for explaining data-driven insights.
• Technical aptitude in data analysis, annotation, or workflow optimization.
• Familiarity with Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python, or SQL is a plus.
• Background in engineering or technical fields with an operational focus is preferred.
• English fluency required; role is open worldwide.
