About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the centralized platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help contractors discover specialized projects, consolidate proof-of-work into a single profile, and grow a durable freelance career in the human side of AI.

About AI training work

AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human contribution behind how modern models learn and behave. Work ranges from annotating images and audio to reviewing and rating model outputs. These roles are frequently remote, flexible, and accessible to people with strong domain skills rather than formal AI credentials.

The role

We’re hiring a Go Quality Assurance Lead to evaluate AI-generated Go code and lead trainer/QAs on Go-specific projects. You’ll judge correctness, safety, maintainability, performance, and rubric alignment, and you’ll produce clear written feedback and quality documentation.

  • Position type: Remote contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week).
  • Location: US-based contractors only.
  • Pay: $70 per hour.
  • Focus: Go code review, QA leadership, onboarding support, and process improvement.

What you’ll do

Your day-to-day work centers on reviewing code submissions, mentoring trainers/QAs, and maintaining high standards across Go AI training work.

  • Review Go solutions including backend snippets, concurrency patterns, tests, API implementations, and technical explanations.
  • Check for non-compilable code, incorrect concurrency patterns, goroutine leaks, race conditions, poor error handling, inefficient logic, hallucinated APIs, and security issues.
  • Assess test coverage, formatting, use of go tooling (gofmt, go vet, race detector), and CI workflows.
  • Write precise feedback for trainers and QAs, update Go-specific guidelines, and maintain calibration materials (FAQs, honeypots, style guides).
  • Monitor recurring issues and help design scalable QA processes and trackers to improve overall project quality.

Requirements

You must demonstrate strong Go knowledge and experience reviewing code against detailed rubrics. Clear written English and remote collaboration experience are required.

  • Professional experience in Go development, backend engineering, code review, software QA, or technical mentoring.
  • Solid understanding of Go fundamentals: goroutines, channels, interfaces, structs, methods, slices, maps, pointers, error handling, context, packages, modules, and testing.
  • Experience identifying concurrency safety issues, race conditions, goroutine leaks, and incorrect patterns.
  • Familiarity with go test, gofmt, go vet, the race detector, HTTP servers, REST APIs, gRPC, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL drivers, GitHub, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to assess AI-generated code and judge outputs against detailed rubrics.
  • Strong English communication for written feedback and team coordination.

Helpful background

The following are not required but will make you more effective in this role.

  • Experience leading or supporting trainers, annotators, reviewers, mentors, or QA teams.
  • Previous work with AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, or rubric-based code review.
  • Background in backend systems, performance tuning, or secure coding practices.

Work arrangement & next steps

This is a remote contractor position focused on Go AI training projects. Expect part-time engagements (20+ hours/week) with clear deliverables and rubric-driven reviews.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours/week.
  • Compensation: $70/hour.
  • Languages: English required.
  • How to apply: Submit your OpenTrain profile highlighting Go experience, code review examples, and any prior QA or mentoring work.
