About AI Training and Code Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Engineers and other specialists prepare examples, review model outputs, and provide structured feedback so AI systems can become more accurate, reliable, and useful.

In this role, your software engineering judgment will directly support the evaluation and improvement of large language models that generate code.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Go Developer for AI Training and Code Evaluation. You will create and evaluate code solutions primarily in Go for large language model training, while also working with other programming languages.

This flexible, contract-based position supports frontier AI research. The work includes curating datasets, correcting code, assessing AI-generated solutions, and improving evaluation methods.

  • Role type: Contractor and part-time
  • Duration: 1 month, with potential extensions based on performance and fit
  • Location: United States, Canada, Austria, Belgium, France, or Germany
  • Language: English
  • Commitment: Flexible, with a stated range from 10 to 40 hours per week; the structured time requirement is 20+ hours per week
  • Benefits: This contractor role does not include medical benefits or paid leave

What You'll Do

You will contribute hands-on programming expertise to datasets and evaluation workflows used in AI training. Your work will combine software development, code review, and structured analysis of model capabilities.

  • Curate code examples and build solutions for AI training datasets, primarily in Go.
  • Work with or evaluate code in Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, and Rust as needed.
  • Evaluate and refine AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry benchmarks.
  • Design verification mechanisms that automatically check solutions to software engineering tasks.
  • Hypothesize about steps in the software engineering cycle and evaluate model capabilities.
  • Write structured rationales explaining evaluation decisions and code quality findings.

Requirements

This role requires professional software engineering experience and strong technical judgment. Although the structured experience level is listed as entry level, the role description requires 3 or more years of software engineering experience.

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Go programming
  • Familiarity with at least one of Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, or Rust
  • Strong expertise building full-stack applications and deploying production-grade software
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality review
  • Ability to evaluate and refine AI-generated code for efficiency and reliability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for structured evaluation rationales

Who Should Apply

Apply if you are a Go developer or software engineer who enjoys solving complex programming problems, reviewing implementation quality, and explaining technical decisions clearly. This opportunity is especially suited to professionals with full-stack and production deployment experience who want to help improve the next generation of AI coding systems.

  • Software engineers with strong Go expertise
  • Full-stack developers familiar with production software deployment
  • Engineers who can assess architecture, debugging approaches, and code quality
  • Technical communicators who can provide consistent, well-structured evaluation rationales
  • Candidates located in an eligible country and able to work in English
