About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect people with projects that teach AI by example so contributors can grow skills, build a portfolio, and apply to work in minutes.
This role is posted through OpenTrain and is part of the fast-growing world of human-in-the-loop AI development — an exciting place to gain hands-on experience shaping how models understand code and web content.
About AI Training Work
AI training (data labeling / annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people create and validate examples that teach models how to read, write, and reason. Contributors often work remotely, choose flexible hours, and take on specialized tasks like code review, content annotation, or quality evaluation.
This project focuses on web development content: your frontend skills will help produce precise annotations and corrected code that improve model behavior for web-based scenarios.
The Role
We are hiring skilled frontend developers based in Germany to join an ongoing AI training project. You will analyze website screenshots, create detailed annotations and question-and-answer pairs, and make targeted HTML/CSS/JS edits to meet specification.
This is a contract, part-time position paid at $25 USD per hour. Candidates must be native German speakers living in Germany and be able to start by August 12 (immediate availability required). A coding skills test is part of the screening process.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
- Pay: $25 USD per hour
- Start date: Must be available to start by August 12
- Location: Remote, must reside in Germany and be a native German speaker
What You'll Do
Work with screenshots and web content to create high-quality annotations, produce Q&A pairs, and implement code corrections or improvements. Tasks require attention to detail, analytical thinking, and clean, maintainable frontend edits.
- Annotate web elements, layout structures, and UI behaviors from screenshots
- Write clear question-and-answer pairs that describe page intent, errors, or required changes
- Edit and improve HTML, CSS, and JavaScript snippets to meet project requirements
- Identify accessibility, responsiveness, and semantic markup issues and suggest fixes
- Document changes and reasoning clearly so annotations can be used for model training
Requirements
You must meet all of the following to be considered. We will verify technical skills with a coding test and ask you to list years of experience for each frontend technology.
- Native German speaker with perfect grammar and the ability to write long-form content in German
- Located in Germany (remote work within Germany only)
- Minimum professional experience: at least 2 years working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (please state how many years you have in each technology)
- Available to commit at least 15 hours per week (preference for candidates who can commit more time, including 25+ hours)
- Able to start by August 12 and join immediately
- Strong analytical skills for labeling and error identification, plus practical problem-solving
- Able to perform code edits and explain technical decisions clearly in German
- Willing to complete a coding skills test as part of the hiring process
Preferred Qualifications
These are not required but will strengthen your application and may improve your match to the project.
- Previous experience on AI training/data labeling platforms such as Scale AI, OpenTrain, OpenTrain AI, Appen, or similar
- Good understanding of web design principles, responsive layouts, and semantic HTML
- Experience producing high-quality technical documentation or annotations for model training
How To Apply
To apply, submit the following information so we can evaluate fit quickly and run the required coding check.
- A short CV or summary of relevant frontend experience
- A brief portfolio or examples of HTML/CSS/JS work (links or code snippets)
- Exact years of professional experience for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (please list each separately)
- Weekly availability (hours per week) and earliest start date (confirm you can start by Aug 12)
- Confirmation that you are a native German speaker residing in Germany
- Be prepared to complete a timed coding skills test as the next step
