The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a German Audio Transcriptionist to produce precise, verbatim transcripts from German-language recordings. You will capture natural speech accurately, including filler words, non-verbal sounds, incomplete utterances, colloquial expressions, and speech affected by difficult audio conditions.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role for German-fluent professionals based in Warsaw, Poland. The work is remote, flexible, and asynchronous, with compensation listed at $10-$35 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will listen carefully to German audio and produce consistent, accurate transcripts across a high volume of assignments. The work requires close attention to speech details, speaker identity, and prescribed formatting conventions.

• Create accurate verbatim transcripts of German recordings
• Parse crosstalk, background noise, filled pauses, and simultaneous speech
• Identify and distinguish multiple speakers throughout each recording
• Represent non-verbal sounds and incomplete utterances accurately
• Apply detailed transcription conventions, style guides, and formatting rules
• Maintain quality and consistency across large volumes of audio
• Complete assignments independently and reliably

Requirements and Helpful Background

You should have native or near-native German fluency, including the ability to understand colloquial expressions and regional speech. Strong written German spelling, punctuation, and grammar are essential, along with exceptional listening skills for noisy or challenging recordings.

Professional experience is not required for this entry-level role. Background in transcription, court reporting, stenography, subtitling, closed-captioning, media post-production, German linguistics, annotation, or data labeling may help you succeed. Familiarity with transcription software, audio-editing tools, German regional dialects, and colloquial speech patterns is useful but not required.
