The Role

OpenTrain is hiring a Full Stack AI Training Developer to build web applications while contributing directly to AI model training workflows. The role spans responsive front-end interfaces, Node.js services, relational databases, training-task creation, benchmark-based quality evaluation, reinforcement learning support, and iterative data preparation.

This is an intermediate-level, part-time contractor opportunity available worldwide. The expected time commitment is 20+ hours per week, and the working language is English.

What You’ll Do

You will build and maintain web applications from user interfaces through databases. You will also create and assess AI training tasks, support reinforcement learning and model training workflows, and use AI coding tools to accelerate delivery without compromising code or data quality.

  • Develop responsive, accessible front-end interfaces with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Build robust back-end services with Node.js.
  • Design and work with relational databases using SQLite and PostgreSQL.
  • Create high-quality AI training tasks and evaluate their quality across benchmarks.
  • Prepare data and support reinforcement learning or AI model training workflows.
  • Iterate on experiments and training data to improve quality.
  • Use tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude while maintaining reliable, maintainable code and datasets.

Required Skills

Candidates should be able to turn requirements into working features and well-structured datasets while working independently. Strong full-stack development experience and practical familiarity with AI training workflows are required for this role.

  • Strong React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills for responsive front-end development.
  • Back-end development experience with Node.js.
  • Hands-on experience with SQLite and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience creating AI training tasks and evaluating quality across benchmarks.
  • Experience supporting reinforcement learning or AI model training workflows.
  • Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude.
  • Strong prompting skills and independent execution habits.
  • Ability to turn requirements into working features and datasets.

Helpful Background

The following experience is helpful but not required: Python, common machine learning libraries, model evaluation, benchmarking pipelines, testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and Git. A focus on clean, maintainable code and well-structured data is valued.
