About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Technical contributors create examples, test model behavior, and evaluate outputs so AI systems can become more capable, reliable, and useful. This role applies frontend engineering expertise to coding environments and evaluations for AI models.
Work directly on practical AI training and evaluation tasks
Use your software expertise to improve how AI models solve frontend problems
Contribute remotely with flexible, part-time scheduling
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a Frontend AI Training Engineer to create reinforcement learning environments that test how AI models solve practical frontend software problems. You will build reproducible environments and golden reference solutions for tasks involving UI bug fixes, interface features, and component improvements.
This is a remote contract role open worldwide. The expected time commitment is 20 or more hours per week, and work is conducted in English.
Employment type: Contractor and part-time
Compensation: $65–$120 per hour
Location: Worldwide and fully remote
Language: English
Experience level: Entry level
What You'll Do
You will develop clear, technically accurate frontend coding tasks and solutions that can be used to train and evaluate AI systems. Your work will span unfamiliar codebases and require careful reasoning about interface behavior, implementation quality, and correctness.
Create reproducible reinforcement learning environments for frontend software tasks
Develop golden reference solutions for UI bugs, interface features, and component code
Write JavaScript and TypeScript examples using React, Vue, or Angular
Troubleshoot layout, state, rendering, and other user-interface issues
Build small to medium interface features with clean, reusable components
Improve frontend code for readability, performance, and consistency
Document your reasoning and code decisions clearly
Review peer-contributed code and technical submissions for correctness and clarity
Required Skills
You should have at least one year of hands-on experience building user interfaces with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework. You must be able to work through practical coding problems, explain your decisions, and produce solutions that are reproducible and technically sound.
Hands-on frontend development experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
Experience with React, Vue, or Angular
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and component-based architecture
Ability to debug UI bugs, layout issues, state behavior, and rendering problems
Comfort using browser developer tools
Ability to work effectively across unfamiliar codebases
Clear technical communication through documentation
Ability to create reproducible coding environments and correct reference solutions
Helpful Background
Curiosity about AI systems and their technical challenges is useful, but previous AI experience is not required. Experience with React, Vue, or Angular and a portfolio of frontend code can help demonstrate practical problem-solving ability.
A portfolio showing frontend development work
Interest in how AI models solve software engineering problems
Strong attention to correctness, clarity, and maintainability
