OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled freelancers with specialized projects, help contributors consolidate opportunities, and support building a career in the human side of AI.
OpenTrain AI is the hiring organization for this role; we recruit, assign, and manage music-focused evaluation work for state-of-the-art generative systems.
Why AI Training Matters
AI training (data labeling or human feedback work) is the human layer that teaches models how to create and judge music. Contributors annotate, rate, and critique model outputs so systems learn musical taste, lyrical coherence, and production quality.
These roles are often remote and flexible — ideal for experienced creatives who want part-time, impactful work shaping how music-focused AI behaves.
The Role
We’re hiring a French Music Audio Evaluation Expert to perform hands-on review of AI-generated music samples in French. This is expert audio evaluation work: you will judge musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, production/mix quality, and lyric quality using a structured music taxonomy.
This is a part-time contractor role (less than 20 hours/week). Work is remote and conducted in French and English. Pay range: $30.00–$60.48 per hour depending on task complexity and experience.
Data type: Audio (music and vocal samples)
Label types: Evaluation/rating and classification
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
What You’ll Do
Perform expert ratings and structured annotations on AI-generated songs and vocal samples, documenting judgments with audio-engineering terminology and musical analysis.
Rate samples for musicality, creativity, and adherence to prompts
Evaluate vocal generation, lyrical content, and vocal/instrumental characteristics
Score production and mix quality and assess training-data quality
Annotate genre, sub-genre, song structure, and performance attributes using a provided music taxonomy
Explain judgments using audio-engineering and production terms (EQ, balance, stereo image, dynamics, timbre, etc.)
Requirements
You must have professional, hands-on experience in music production, audio engineering, or sound mixing and strong musical judgment. Follow directions in English while performing evaluations in French.
Professional experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer (required)
Strong understanding of musical performance, theory, arrangement, and lyrics
Prior experience writing lyrical music in French
Native or near-native proficiency in French and English; able to read and follow instructions in English
Ability to use audio-engineering terminology to justify ratings
Helpful Background
These qualifications make you especially competitive but are not strict blockers if you meet the essentials.
College training or degree in music
3+ years of music production or audio engineering experience
How It Works & Who Should Apply

Apply if you enjoy critical listening, detailed annotation, and clear written explanations of audio quality
You’ll complete evaluations and annotations in French and provide explanations in audio-production terms
Compensation is hourly: $30.00–$60.48 per hour, depending on experience and task
