About AI Legal Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Expert reviewers assess model responses, identify errors, and provide clear feedback that helps AI systems become more accurate and useful. In this role, your knowledge of French litigation and procedural law will support the evaluation of legal AI.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a French litigation and disputes attorney to evaluate how accurately AI systems answer questions involving French law. You will compare responses from language models, assess them against a standardized rubric, and explain your judgments in concise, well-supported written feedback.

This is a remote, project-based contractor opportunity. The initial commitment is approximately 10 hours, with potential for additional work based on project needs. The role is listed with a time requirement of 20+ hours per week.

  • Pay: $150–$160 per hour
  • Work arrangement: Remote, part-time contract
  • Initial project commitment: Approximately 10 hours
  • Location: France
  • Language: French

What You'll Do

You will work independently through a consistent review process, applying your legal judgment carefully and meeting agreed deadlines. Confidential project information must be protected under a non-disclosure agreement.

  • Run identical legal prompts through two language-model platforms.
  • Compare generated answers side by side for legal accuracy and overall quality.
  • Score each response using a standardized evaluation rubric.
  • Write concise, precise feedback explaining the basis for each evaluation.
  • Apply evaluation criteria consistently and make well-supported legal judgments.
  • Maintain confidentiality under an NDA and meet agreed deadlines.

Required Qualifications

This opportunity is intended for a qualified French legal professional with substantial litigation or disputes experience and the ability to communicate complex legal judgments precisely in French.

  • Qualified to practise law in France as an avocat or avocate.
  • At least two years of primarily law-firm experience in litigation, disputes, or contentious practice.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of French litigation and procedural law.
  • Native or fluent French with precise written communication.
  • Ability to compare AI-generated legal answers and apply a detailed rubric consistently.
  • Ability to provide concise, well-supported written feedback independently and on deadline.

Helpful Background

Experience assessing legal analysis, reviewing written legal arguments, or comparing alternative answers against defined standards may help you succeed. Lawyers who recently moved in-house may also be considered when they have the required prior law-firm background.
