About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help contributors discover projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow a freelance career teaching AI — all from a single, trusted place.

Why AI training and finance QA matters

AI systems learn from examples and human review; finance-focused QA ensures models give accurate, responsible, and well-reasoned financial outputs. Contributors directly shape how AI handles valuation, accounting, risk, and investment analysis — work that’s remote, flexible, and often accessible without prior AI-industry experience.

The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Financial Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated finance content and supervise trainer QA work across finance training projects. You will evaluate financial accuracy, calculations, reasoning, terminology, risk sensitivity, and rubric adherence, while providing clear written feedback and improving QA processes.

  • Contractor, part-time role: 20+ hours per week.
  • Location: Remote — United States only.
  • Compensation: Up to $90/hour.

What you'll do

You will be the primary reviewer and QA coordinator for finance-focused annotation and evaluation work. The role blends hands-on review with documentation, trainer support, and process improvement.

  • Review AI-generated finance explanations, calculations, investment analyses, accounting interpretations, valuation workflows, risk discussions, market summaries, and problem-solving steps.
  • Evaluate content against detailed rubrics to identify incorrect assumptions, flawed calculations, unsupported claims, missing caveats, and unclear explanations.
  • Provide precise written feedback to trainers and QAs and answer technical questions about formulas, assumptions, accounting treatment, valuation logic, and rubric interpretation.
  • Spot recurring quality issues and drive corrective guidance and calibration.
  • Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
  • Communicate new guidelines, workflow updates, and quality expectations to distributed teams.
  • Run onboarding and training sessions and help activate or re-engage contributors who are not working consistently.

Requirements

You must be able to evaluate finance content rigorously, communicate clearly in English, and support remote QA operations. Preserve all listed requirements when applying.

  • Strong finance background across financial statements, valuation, corporate finance, capital markets, investments, risk analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting principles, and time value of money.
  • Ability to evaluate content against rubrics and spot incorrect assumptions, flawed calculations, unsupported claims, missing caveats, and unclear explanations.
  • Experience with finance workflows or tools such as Excel or Google Sheets modeling, DCF, comparables, KPI dashboards, market research, financial databases, accounting systems, or financial reporting.
  • Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, analysts, accountants, writers, researchers, educators, or QAs.
  • Strong written English communication skills for clear feedback and team coordination.
  • Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM evaluation is strongly preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, FRM, CMA, or CA are a plus.

Helpful background and fit

This role is best for experienced finance reviewers or analysts who enjoy teaching, documentation, and improving distributed quality operations. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Financial Engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required when relevant experience is strong.

  • High attention to detail and strong organization in remote, fast-moving workflows.
  • Comfortable translating technical finance issues into clear guidance for non-expert reviewers.

Selection and next steps

Qualified candidates may be contacted for relevant opportunities as they become available. OpenTrain matches contributors to projects and coordinates onboarding; if you meet the requirements, you may be invited to participate in evaluation and calibration tasks before work begins.

  • Role level: Intermediate — suited to experienced finance reviewers contributing to quality operations across remote teams.
  • Language requirement: English.
  • Employment types: Contractor, part-time; remote work within the United States.
