OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover specialized AI training projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career teaching AI systems how the world works.
Our finance-focused projects connect experienced practitioners with AI teams who need real-world domain expertise to make model tasks and evaluations realistic, reliable, and professionally relevant.
About AI training work in finance
AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human side of building AI: people create, review, and rate examples that teach models how experts think and act. In finance work this means validating whether prompts, inputs, and expected workflows reflect how deals, fund formation, and fund operations actually happen.
This work is remote and flexible, and it directly shapes how models behave on finance tasks used across the industry.
The role
We are hiring finance professionals to review task descriptions and workflows intended for advanced AI training. You will assess realism, internal consistency, assumptions, and practical constraints, then provide concise, actionable written feedback to improve task quality.
This is a contract, part-time role where reviewers work on sprints of tasks and may cross-check judgment with domain peers to maintain high standards.
What you'll do
Review finance tasks and workflows for professional realism, clarity, scope, and internal consistency.
Assess whether task inputs, context, and expected workflow match actual professional practice.
Identify missing assumptions, ambiguous instructions, unsupported requirements, impractical constraints, and material edge cases.
Flag tasks that are too broad, too generic, or unlikely to produce meaningful signal of real finance capability.
Provide structured written feedback and targeted recommendations to improve task realism and usefulness.
Cross-check task logic with trusted domain peers when needed to maintain quality across the sprint.
Requirements
We have two reviewer tracks with different experience bands—please apply to the track that fits your background.
Practitioner track: 5–7 years relevant investment banking or private equity experience, or 5–10 years relevant fund operations experience.
Senior reviewer track: 7–15 years professional experience.
Professional experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, fund finance, fund operations, or fund formation.
Strong modeling, valuation, transaction, diligence, and investment-writing skills; current or recent proximity to execution.
Proven ability to review deal teams, investment memos, or fund deliverables for senior-level review work.
Excellent written communication and the ability to make assumptions, risks, and recommendations explicit.
Experience identifying ambiguous instructions, missing assumptions, impractical constraints, and edge cases in finance workflows.
Compensation & schedule
This is a contractor, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week. Pay is by the hour.
Hourly pay range: $151–$196 USD/hour depending on seniority and track; payments are processed per contract terms.
Logistics, language & eligibility
Work is performed remotely. Candidates must be fluent in English and able to produce clear, professional written feedback.
This role is not open to applicants located in the following countries: CU, IR, KP, SY, RU, BY, VE.
Who should apply and next steps
Apply if you have hands-on finance execution experience and enjoy translating professional judgment into concise, actionable written guidance that improves AI training tasks.
