The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Finance and Accounting AI Task Author to create expert-level accounting reconciliation tasks for training and evaluating advanced AI agents. You will transform realistic enterprise finance scenarios into objective, numerically rigorous exercises involving invoice and payment matching, billing against recognized revenue, and margin analysis.
This role combines finance expertise with task design, rubric writing, validation, and quality review. It is a fully remote freelance contract for finance professionals in South Africa, with a flexible, task-based commitment of 20+ hours per week.

What You’ll Do
You will design complete finance tasks that test multi-step reasoning and produce verifiable outcomes. Each exercise should reflect realistic accounting workflows while remaining clear enough to evaluate consistently.
Author prompts for payment matching, revenue reconciliation, and margin report analysis
Write scoring rubrics defining exact numerical outcomes and required reasoning
Prepare financial data, documents, and system states that mirror realistic workflows
Solve each task to verify figures, balances, and rubric accuracy
Adjust data complexity, source-document ambiguity, and reasoning requirements to reach the intended difficulty
Review and correct AI-drafted prompts and rubrics when provided
Required Qualifications
You should have hands-on experience as an accountant, finance analyst, or closely related finance professional. Strong numerical reasoning and experience with multi-step reconciliation problems are required.
You should understand revenue recognition principles, matching rules, and standard accounting workflows. You must also be able to define verifiable correctness criteria, including exact figures, reconciled balances, and documented variance explanations.
