OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers discover specialized AI training projects, consolidate opportunities, and build a durable portfolio of work that demonstrates their skills.
Why AI Training Matters (and Why Finance Needs It)
AI training — also called data labeling or human feedback work — is the human side of creating reliable AI. People annotate, evaluate, and rate model outputs so machine learning systems learn correct, domain-aware behavior.
Finance is a high-stakes domain where accuracy, nuance, and domain knowledge matter. Your evaluations and rubrics will directly influence how LLMs perform on deal analysis, capital markets tasks, forecasting, portfolio management, accounting, and other finance workflows.
The Role
You will be a Finance AI Model Evaluation Expert working with OpenTrain as a contractor. Your focus is assessing LLM outputs on finance tasks, designing clear rubrics to measure performance, and collaborating with researchers and finance specialists to inform training and evaluation approaches.
Contractor, part-time role (20+ hours/week) — fully remote and flexible.
Work centers on text-based model evaluation and RLHF-style rating tasks.
What You'll Do
Apply your finance expertise to identify model weaknesses, create reproducible evaluation criteria, and help set benchmarks researchers can use to improve model accuracy and safety.
Evaluate finance-focused LLM responses and document failure modes.
Build rubrics and scoring guidelines for finance tasks and analyses.
Collaborate with researchers and finance subject-matter experts on training strategies and benchmarks.
Apply judgment across investment analysis, forecasting, revenue builds, asset management, and risk management.
Requirements
We look for candidates with hands-on finance experience, strong written English, and a demonstrated ability to evaluate finance content or analysis. This role rewards clear thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to translate domain knowledge into objective evaluation criteria.
Minimum 2+ years experience in one or more finance domains (capital markets, portfolio management, trading, quant, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, FP&A, accounting, or financial consulting).
Strong grasp of finance concepts: investment analysis, forecasting, revenue builds, corporate finance, asset management, and risk management.
Experience evaluating finance content or financial analysis work and creating rubrics for model judgment.
Excellent written English communication skills.
CFA, CA, CPA, or MBA in Finance is a plus but not required.
Willingness to work remotely with flexible contractor hours.
Who Should Apply
This role is a great fit for finance professionals who want flexible, remote work and are interested in shaping how AI handles complex financial tasks. You do not need prior annotation experience if you can demonstrate finance analysis experience and a talent for clear written feedback.
Analysts or consultants with strong written skills and attention to detail.
Subject-matter experts eager to influence AI behavior in finance.
