About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review examples, evaluate model outputs, and improve the instructions and grading systems that help AI produce more accurate, useful results. In this role, your EPC and data center knowledge will help shape training tasks grounded in real engineering, procurement, and construction practice.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
  • Apply professional judgment to realistic project scenarios
  • Work remotely with flexible part-time hours

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an EPC Data Center Project Review Expert to improve complex AI training tasks based on engineering, procurement, and construction practice. You will evaluate realistic project-delivery and field scenarios, identify gaps or contradictions in source materials, and confirm that expected outputs and grading methods reflect professional standards.

The work combines technical peer review with precise written judgment across multidisciplinary capital-project documentation. The opportunity is listed as entry level, while the role requires at least two years delivering data centers, mission-critical facilities, or similarly complex capital projects.

  • Pay: $100-$140 per hour
  • Contractor position
  • Part-time schedule of less than 20 hours per week
  • Worldwide eligibility
  • Primary language: English

What You'll Do

You will review long-horizon tasks and supporting materials, assess whether they are technically coherent, and help make them suitable for reliable AI evaluation. Your review will span project phases from design coordination and procurement through construction, commissioning, and handover.

  • Review design coordination, procurement and vendor data, bid packages, issued drawings, and engineer-of-record revisions
  • Evaluate constructability, temporary works, 4D sequencing, field engineering, commissioning, and handover
  • Check scope interfaces, technical requirements, schedule logic, equipment and material constraints, and construction methods
  • Assess document control, acceptance criteria, and the relationship between project requirements and expected deliverables
  • Identify ambiguous requirements, conflicting source documents, missing constraints, and unrealistic outputs
  • Improve task prompts, supporting artifacts, acceptance criteria, rubrics, and programmatic checks
  • Produce clear technical findings and validate corrected tasks from beginning to end

Required Experience and Skills

You should have experience delivering data centers, mission-critical facilities, or similarly complex capital projects through EPC, design-build, or construction-management models. Relevant backgrounds include project engineering, engineering management, design management, construction management, field engineering, procurement engineering, commissioning management, project controls, or technical project management.

The role requires strong multidisciplinary design and construction knowledge, careful document interpretation, and the ability to explain complex issues clearly in writing.

  • At least two years delivering data centers, mission-critical facilities, or complex capital projects
  • Experience with EPC, design-build, or construction-management delivery models
  • Ability to evaluate multidisciplinary design and construction interfaces
  • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, schedules, equipment submittals, vendor data, cost and constraint registers, and field records
  • Ability to assess scope requirements, schedule logic, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to identify ambiguous requirements, conflicting documents, missing constraints, and unrealistic deliverables
  • Strong technical writing and precise professional judgment

Preferred Background

Professional credentials and experience with established firms may strengthen your fit for this project review work, where applicable.

  • PE, PMP, CCM, or relevant commissioning credentials
  • Experience with a leading EPC, design-build, engineering, or construction firm
