The Role
We are hiring an Electronic Engineer (Qucs-S Expert) to lead circuit simulation, design optimization, and validation work using Qucs-S. You will simulate electronic circuits and systems, troubleshoot simulation and prototyping issues, and produce clear technical documentation for stakeholders and teammates.
This is a contractor, part-time role (20+ hours/week) open to contributors worldwide who communicate in English and can work independently in a distributed team.
What You'll Do
Deliver accurate circuit simulations and analyses in Qucs-S, iterate designs for performance and manufacturability, and support prototyping and troubleshooting efforts. Expect to collaborate with distributed engineers and mentor others on advanced simulation techniques.
Simulate and validate electronic circuits and systems using Qucs-S.
Troubleshoot simulation and prototyping issues and recommend fixes.
Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Prepare detailed technical documentation and stakeholder updates.
Collaborate with distributed teams to translate requirements into solutions.
Share Qucs-S best practices and mentor teammates on advanced techniques.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate proven, hands-on expertise with Qucs-S and a strong background in electronic circuit design, testing, and optimization. The role requires clear technical writing and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a relevant degree.
Proven expertise with Qucs-S for circuit simulation and analysis.
Experience in electronic circuit design, testing, and optimization.
Ability to troubleshoot simulation and prototyping issues effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronic engineering or related field.
Preferred, but not required: experience integrating Qucs-S with other EDA tools or custom workflows, background across analog/digital/mixed-signal design, and contributions to Qucs-S open-source projects or community forums.

How It Works & Compensation
This is a remote contractor position, part-time at 20+ hours/week. OpenTrain AI will contract you directly for project work; you will submit deliverables, documentation, and mentoring contributions as agreed.
