About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with specialized technical projects, help people consolidate work across platforms into a single professional profile, and support durable freelance careers in the fast-growing AI training industry.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring organization for this role. You will work as a remote contractor on focused engineering tasks that contribute to AI training and technical data workflows.

About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling / human feedback) is the human layer that helps models learn: people prepare examples, evaluate outputs, and shape system behavior. Projects range from simple annotation to specialist technical work—like simulation and engineering validation—where domain expertise matters.

These roles are often 100% remote, flexible, and suitable for experts who want part-time, high-impact work that directly influences how AI systems are built and validated.

The Role

We are hiring an Electronic Engineer (Qucs-S Expert) to lead circuit simulation, design optimization, and validation work using Qucs-S. You will simulate electronic circuits and systems, troubleshoot simulation and prototyping issues, and produce clear technical documentation for stakeholders and teammates.

This is a contractor, part-time role (20+ hours/week) open to contributors worldwide who communicate in English and can work independently in a distributed team.

What You'll Do

Deliver accurate circuit simulations and analyses in Qucs-S, iterate designs for performance and manufacturability, and support prototyping and troubleshooting efforts. Expect to collaborate with distributed engineers and mentor others on advanced simulation techniques.

  • Simulate and validate electronic circuits and systems using Qucs-S.
  • Troubleshoot simulation and prototyping issues and recommend fixes.
  • Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and stakeholder updates.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Share Qucs-S best practices and mentor teammates on advanced techniques.

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate proven, hands-on expertise with Qucs-S and a strong background in electronic circuit design, testing, and optimization. The role requires clear technical writing and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a relevant degree.

  • Proven expertise with Qucs-S for circuit simulation and analysis.
  • Experience in electronic circuit design, testing, and optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot simulation and prototyping issues effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronic engineering or related field.
  • Experience creating comprehensive technical documentation.

Helpful Background

Preferred, but not required: experience integrating Qucs-S with other EDA tools or custom workflows, background across analog/digital/mixed-signal design, and contributions to Qucs-S open-source projects or community forums.

  • Integration of Qucs-S with other EDA tools or custom workflows.
  • Background in analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Contributions to open-source Qucs-S projects or community forums.

How It Works & Compensation

This is a remote contractor position, part-time at 20+ hours/week. OpenTrain AI will contract you directly for project work; you will submit deliverables, documentation, and mentoring contributions as agreed.

Compensation is paid hourly in USD. The posted range is $50–$120 per hour, with the role offering up to $120/hr depending on experience and scope. Work is labeled as PAY_PER_HOUR and classified under evaluation and data collection tasks (EVALUATION_RATING, DATA_COLLECTION).

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours per week.
  • Pay: USD hourly, range $50–$120/hr (up to $120/hr).
