OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. We focus on transparent, remote work that lets experts apply their domain knowledge to improve AI quality while keeping flexible schedules.

About AI training work

AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems. Engineers and specialists review model outputs, rate accuracy, answer technical prompts, and provide grounded feedback that guides model behavior.

This is remote, often part-time work that fits around other commitments. Contributors directly influence real-world performance of AI systems by sharing professional practices, references, and standards.

The role

You will work as an Electrical Engineering Expert evaluating written content and AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, clarity, and usefulness in electrical engineering contexts.

This is a contractor, part-time engagement with flexible hours. Typical commitment is approximately 10 hours per week with potential to continue over time, collaborating with other subject-matter experts.

What you'll do

  • Review and rate written content and AI-generated answers for technical correctness and practical applicability.
  • Provide clear, well-reasoned feedback and corrections grounded in professional practice.
  • Answer domain-specific questions and produce concise, accurate responses when requested.
  • Identify and recommend useful reference materials, codes, and standards relevant to each item.
  • Share insight into real-world engineering tools, workflows, and standards used in practice.
  • Collaborate with other experts when multi-discipline input is needed.

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified electrical engineer with a US Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
  • At least 2 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with NEC and IEEE codes and standards.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB, AutoCAD Electrical, or SPICE.
  • Professional working English and reliable availability for about 10 hours per week.
  • US-based candidates only (work authorization required).

How it works — schedule, pay, and applying

This is a remote contractor role. You set flexible hours to meet the ~10 hour/week expectation and manage tasks through OpenTrain's platform.

Compensation is hourly at $65–$90 USD per hour, paid per hour worked. The role includes evaluation and question-answering tasks (EVALUATION_RATING and QUESTION_ANSWERING).

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Language: Professional working English required.
  • To apply: create or sign in to your OpenTrain profile, confirm your PE license and experience, and submit examples of relevant engineering work or references when requested.
