About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Experts review model outputs, test reasoning, identify errors, and provide feedback that helps AI systems become more accurate, useful, safe, and reliable.
In this role, your electrical engineering judgment will help shape how AI handles technical explanations, calculations, design scenarios, safety considerations, and practical engineering constraints.
- Remote work using a computer and internet connection
- Flexible, part-time participation in a fast-growing technology field
- Direct influence on the quality of advanced AI systems
The Electrical Engineering AI Response Evaluator Role
OpenTrain is seeking an Electrical Engineering AI Response Evaluator to assess AI-generated answers, prompts, explanations, and calculations. You will judge technical accuracy, logical soundness, completeness, clarity, safety, and practical feasibility across a wide range of electrical engineering topics.
The work may cover circuit design and analysis, power systems, power electronics, controls, embedded and digital systems, EMI and EMC, electrical safety, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Contractor opportunity for an individual electrical engineering specialist
- Part-time schedule with a commitment of 20 or more hours per week
- Pay of $40-$100 USD per hour
- English-language work
What You’ll Do
You will evaluate AI-generated responses against sound electrical engineering principles and responsible engineering practice. You will also create or challenge realistic engineering scenarios that include calculations, assumptions, constraints, standards, and unit consistency.
Your feedback will help models explain technical limitations, safety considerations, professional judgment, and real-world feasibility more effectively.
- Review step-by-step engineering solutions and identify factual errors
- Check calculations, assumptions, units, constraints, and modeling choices
- Identify unsafe recommendations, invalid modeling, missing constraints, and incomplete reasoning
- Assess responses about circuits, power design, controls, embedded systems, noise, protection, and troubleshooting
- Provide structured written feedback on accuracy, clarity, safety, and practical feasibility
Required Qualifications
You should have at least four years of professional electrical engineering experience and the ability to communicate clear written reasoning. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field is required.
- Professional experience in circuits, power systems, power electronics, controls, embedded systems, RF, signal processing, instrumentation, automation, electronics testing, or a related specialty
- Strong command of circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetics, signals and systems, and controls
- Knowledge of grounding, isolation, protection, and EMC/EMI principles
- Ability to validate calculations, assumptions, units, constraints, limitations, and safety implications
- Ability to recognize technical errors, unsafe recommendations, invalid modeling, and incomplete reasoning in AI-generated content
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline
Helpful Background
Experience in AI data training, annotation, red-teaming, or evaluation of AI-generated technical content is valuable. Practical experience with engineering tools, test equipment, or professional standards can also support your work in this role.
- Schematics, SPICE simulation, MATLAB or Simulink
- PCB design, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Power studies, test reports, or engineering standards
- Advanced degree, PE status, Chartered status, or professional certifications
