The role

OpenTrain is hiring an Electrical Engineering AI Evaluation Specialist to review and improve AI-generated electrical engineering prompts, responses, explanations, and step-by-step solutions.

This is a contract, part-time role (20+ hours/week) paying between $40 and $100 per hour. Work is remote but limited to candidates located in the listed eligible countries and requires fluent English and strong written communication.

What you'll do

You will evaluate technical model outputs, write or improve expert-level responses, and explain reasoning clearly so feedback can be used to improve AI behavior. Tasks emphasize accuracy, safety, and consistent application of rubrics.

• Write or improve expert responses and clearly explain your reasoning
• Review source materials and model outputs against detailed project guidelines and rubrics
• Rate and annotate text outputs (evaluation_rating) and produce improved text (text_generation) as required
• Flag unsafe recommendations, missing constraints, incorrect math or units, and incomplete assumptions
• Maintain consistency and quality across repeated review tasks

Requirements

All requirements below are essential for success in this role. The most important qualification is strong, real-world electrical engineering knowledge and the ability to communicate technical judgments in clear written form.

• Relevant professional or academic electrical engineering expertise (Intermediate level)
• Deep understanding of circuit analysis, power systems, power electronics, controls, and EMI/EMC safety concepts
• Hands-on familiarity with one or more EE specialties such as embedded systems, RF/communications, instrumentation, or electronics test
• Experience checking AI-generated engineering explanations for correct math, units, assumptions, and feasibility
• Ability to critique unsafe recommendations, missing constraints, and incomplete reasoning in technical responses
• Prior exposure to AI data training, annotation, red-teaming, or technical model evaluation
• Comfort working from schematics, simulation outputs, PCB artifacts, or test reports
• Fluency in English and strong written communication
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply rubrics consistently while working independently

How the work is structured

Tasks are text-based (dataType: TEXT) and combine evaluation ratings and text-generation to refine model outputs. You'll apply project rubrics to rate responses and often produce corrected or improved explanations.

You will work remotely as a contractor, using provided guidelines and examples. Consistency, repeatability, and clear written feedback are central to the role.

• Expect repetitive, focused review tasks where precision and consistency are required
