About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people who build careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect expert contributors with contractor roles that teach and shape AI systems, let contributors build a unified AI-training portfolio, and support flexible, remote work across many specialties.

For this posting, OpenTrain is hiring and contracting directly for dental domain AI-training work. This role is part of the broader effort to improve how AI handles clinical dentistry, patient counseling, radiographic reasoning, prescribing safety, and urgent-care triage.

Why AI training work matters

AI models learn from examples and expert review created by people. Dental SME reviewers and content creators ensure model outputs are safe, clinically accurate, and useful for patients and clinicians. This is an opportunity to shape how future dental tools reason and communicate.

Work is 100% remote and flexible; many contributors treat AI training as steady part-time contractor work alongside clinical or academic roles.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a remote Dentist SME to perform AI training and expert clinical review for dental and oral-health text outputs. You will evaluate model responses, create gold-standard content, rate and compare answers, and produce precise explanatory feedback that documents correct clinical reasoning and safety.

Labeling work types include RLHF, evaluation/rating, and text generation tasks applied to dental content. The role is contractor, part-time, and requires working independently in a remote workflow.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours/week
  • Data type: Text; label types include RLHF, Evaluation Rating, and Text Generation

What you'll do

  • Review AI-generated dental and oral-health answers for correctness, safety, and clarity
  • Create detailed prompts and gold-standard answers across diagnosis, treatment planning, prescribing, emergencies, and patient counseling
  • Evaluate clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis, radiographic interpretation, and triage decisions
  • Compare model responses and rate them by correctness and clinical soundness
  • Provide precise written feedback explaining what is right, wrong, or unsafe and why
  • Fact-check dental and medical content, identify unsafe assumptions or contraindications, and document corrections

Requirements

Candidates must meet every required item below. These facts come from the role listing and are not optional preferences.

  • DDS or DMD, or equivalent dental degree
  • Active dental licensure or eligibility to hold an equivalent license
  • Minimum 5+ years of clinical dentistry experience
  • Strong grounding in oral diagnosis, treatment planning, dental materials, and procedural fundamentals
  • Confident clinical reasoning including differential diagnosis and urgent versus routine triage
  • Experience or competence in radiographic interpretation and recognizing contraindications
  • Safe-prescribing knowledge and careful fact-checking of medication risks
  • Minimum English proficiency: C1 (able to write precise explanatory feedback)
  • Experience level (as listed): Entry level — the listing’s experience-level field

Helpful background

  • Prior AI data training, annotation, clinical review, peer review, or guideline-based content experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with dental emergencies, evidence-based dentistry, and infection control
  • Comfort working independently in a remote contractor workflow across time zones

Compensation, eligibility, and schedule

This is hourly contractor work paid USD $50–$90 per hour, depending on the assignment and your experience. The listing shows an hourly rate range with a top rate of $90/hr.
