About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect experienced professionals with domain-focused review projects so contributors can grow lasting freelance careers helping shape how AI systems behave.

For every role, OpenTrain hires and manages the contract relationship directly — you’ll join a distributed team of specialists who evaluate model outputs and provide high-quality human feedback that improves AI systems.

Why AI training matters (short)

AI training — also called data labeling or human feedback — is the human side of building modern AI. Experts like you grade and correct model outputs so real-world systems are accurate, safe, and professionally credible.

This work is remote, flexible, and impactful: you’ll apply deep domain judgment to shape how future cybersecurity and governance tools respond and communicate.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Cybersecurity / IT GRC Evaluator to review AI-generated documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks for factual accuracy, technical rigor, and presentation quality. You will grade outputs against domain rubrics, flag errors, and deliver clear, evidence-based written feedback.

This is a remote contract engagement, part-time (20+ hours/week), intended for experienced professionals who can apply practical cybersecurity and IT governance, risk, and compliance judgment to model-generated work products.

What you'll do

Work through batches of AI-generated documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks and evaluate them using provided, domain-specific rubrics. Focus on content accuracy, logical rigor, risk posture, and clarity of recommendations or findings.

  • Evaluate AI outputs against domain-specific quality rubrics and rating scales.
  • Identify factual, technical, aesthetic, and presentation issues in documents, spreadsheets, and slides.
  • Write clear, structured, evidence-based feedback and suggested corrections.
  • Apply cybersecurity and IT GRC expertise to judge risk, controls, compliance, and governance arguments.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the stated minimum qualifications and be able to produce professional written feedback in English.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity or IT GRC.
  • Native or professional fluency in English (written and reading).
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, especially PowerPoint/Slides and Word/Docs.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks with careful, evidence-based judgment.
  • Strong written communication skills and experience producing structured review comments.

Helpful background

An advanced degree (master's or higher) in a relevant field is a helpful plus but not required. Experience with corporate governance, risk frameworks, compliance programs, or security assessments will make your reviews more valuable.

Compensation & logistics

This is a contractor, part-time role with a required commitment of 20+ hours per week. Work is 100% remote and open worldwide for English speakers.

Pay is hourly in USD with a range of $80–$120 per hour; exact assignments and hours may vary by project.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours/week.
  • Language: English (required).
  • Data type: Document review, including spreadsheets and slide decks.
  • Labeling tasks: Evaluation ratings and text-generation review.

How it works / next steps

If you meet the requirements, create an OpenTrain profile and apply — you will be assessed for domain fit and given sample review tasks. Successful evaluators receive rubrics, training examples, and access to the review platform.

Expect to write concise, evidence-backed feedback on each item you review. OpenTrain manages contracting and payment for all contributors.
