About AI training and medical imaging work
AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human work that teaches models to understand medical images. Tasks like CT segmentation are essential for clinical AI, research, and 3D model generation. This work is remote, often flexible, and lets you contribute directly to how medical imaging AI is built.
The role
We are hiring a Biomedical Image Segmentation Engineer to perform high-quality segmentation of CT (DICOM) scans of the lower limb—typically one leg per case. Assignments are delivered on demand (one case at a time) and must be completed within 24 hours of receipt. You will produce bone segmentations and export anatomical 3D models, then run quality checks following provided specifications.
- Data type: Medical CT (DICOM) of lower limb
- Label type: Segmentation (bony structures)
- Turnaround: 24 hours per case after receipt
- Delivery: Single-case, on-demand workflow (not batch-based)
- Tooling: Internal proprietary annotation software provided
What you'll do
Perform accurate segmentation of bony anatomy on CT volumes and generate 3D anatomical models. Focus on global segmentation and higher-accuracy segmentation within specified Z-extent regions (typically 50–150 mm, ~50–150 slices). Conduct quality checks and deliver outputs according to the project’s specification documents.
- Create bone masks for the lower limb and refine local regions of interest to required accuracy
- Export and deliver 3D anatomy models derived from segmented masks
- Follow provided SOPs and checklist for quality assurance
- Complete each assigned case within the 24-hour SLA
Requirements
This is an intermediate-level contractor role for candidates with hands-on experience in CT bone segmentation. You must be able to work independently and follow technical specifications precisely.
- Proven experience segmenting CT scans of bony structures; lower-leg experience is a plus
- Comfort working with DICOM CT volumes and exporting segmentation/3D model outputs
- Ability to meet a strict 24-hour turnaround for single-case, on-demand tasks
- Willingness to use the client’s internal proprietary tooling for annotation
- Eligible to work as a contractor and located in one of these countries: CO, MX, IN, CR, AR
Compensation, schedule, and contract
This is a contractor position paid per hour. The listed base hourly rate is USD 10 (range USD 5–15/hr). Work is performed on-demand—there is no regular batch schedule—so availability to accept and finish single-case assignments quickly is required. This posting is not open worldwide; applicants must reside in Colombia, Mexico, India, Costa Rica, or Argentina.
- Payment type: Pay per hour
- Listed hourly rate: USD 10 (range USD 5–15/hr)
- Employment type: Contractor
- Geography: Applicants must be located in CO, MX, IN, CR, or AR
How it works — apply and start
Apply via OpenTrain to create your profile and submit your experience. If selected, you will be given access to the project’s specification documents and the internal proprietary segmentation tooling. Assignments are offered on demand; once you accept a case you will have 24 hours to complete it and submit the deliverables for QA.
