About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect creative and technical contributors with hands-on projects that shape how modern AI systems behave, and we make it easy to build a profile, discover open projects, and apply.
About AI training and this opportunity
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building intelligent systems. Contributors annotate images and text, rate model outputs, and verify content so AI products learn from high-quality examples.
This listing is for a hybrid design-and-implementation role: you will create commercial web experiences and also support AI-training tasks that rely on accurate visual and text judgment. The work is 100% remote, flexible, and well suited to designers who enjoy practical, production-focused projects.
The role
We are hiring Creative Web UI Designers to design visually compelling, brand-driven landing pages and storefronts and to build them end-to-end using modern no-code platforms. This is a hands-on role focused on visual design, layout, typography, and deployment — not backend engineering or research-heavy UX work.
- Position type: Part-time contractor, under 20 hours per week, fully remote.
- Compensation: Pay-per-hour; range $10–$25 USD/hour (hourlyRate listed as $20 USD).
- Platforms: Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, WordPress (no-code preferred).
- Labeling/data context: Work includes AI training tasks involving image and text review, entity NER tagging, evaluation rating, and coding-review style QA.
What you'll do
- Design high-converting landing pages and brand storefronts that reflect strong visual identity and commercial intent.
- Implement and deploy complete pages using no-code tools (Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, WordPress), including layout, responsive design, and typography.
- Iterate on live pages for aesthetics and marketing performance using analytics and feedback.
- Perform rubric-based QA and annotation tasks as needed, including text annotation, image review/annotation, and evaluation rating.
- Collaborate with product/marketing stakeholders to ensure designs meet ecommerce goals; no backend development required.
Requirements
- Intermediate experience level with a strong portfolio — portfolio must include live website links.
- Hands-on experience deploying web pages end-to-end on no-code platforms (Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, WordPress).
- Demonstrated UI design skills and knowledge of layout and typography principles.
- Hands-on experience with text annotation, rubric-based QA, and image annotation or review.
- Familiarity with ecommerce and digital brand design subject matter.
- Able to work less than 20 hours per week as a contractor and meet delivery deadlines.
Who should apply
Designers who enjoy both creative UI work and practical implementation on no-code platforms, and who have prior annotation or QA experience, will thrive in this role. You should be comfortable toggling between visual design tasks and structured evaluation/annotation work for AI training.
- Portfolio with live sites is mandatory; applications without live links may not be considered.
- This is not a fit if you expect backend engineering, heavy UX research, or full-stack development responsibilities.
How the project works
Apply through OpenTrain with your portfolio and relevant experience. Successful candidates will be contracted and assigned tasks with clear rubrics and acceptance criteria.
Expect a mix of design sprints (create + deploy pages) and short annotation/evaluation assignments. Tasks are remote and flexible; you choose hours that fit under the project’s part-time cap.
- Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.
- Data and label types: Image data work plus labeling tasks including ENTITY_NER_CLASSIFICATION, EVALUATION_RATING, and COMPUTER_PROGRAMMING_CODING-style review.
- (project-specific tools).
