OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect contributors with real projects that help shape how modern AI behaves, and we contract and manage work directly through OpenTrain AI.
This role is contracted through OpenTrain AI — you'll join our team for a short, focused project to produce high-quality SQL deliverables for training and evaluation purposes.
About AI training and why this work matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building AI systems: people prepare, verify, and refine examples that models learn from. For SQL work, contributors create precise, correct queries that ensure models learn how to translate natural language into database answers.
These projects are typically remote, flexible, and accessible — they let you do focused technical work that directly affects how AI systems understand and retrieve information.
The role
You will create 100 gold-standard SQL queries that return the exact information described by each natural-language user query about sports events. OpenTrain AI hires you as a contract, part-time contributor for this task.
You will be given access to the target database, a labeling tool, and support from our existing team to provide context and tribal knowledge needed to produce perfect queries.
Contractor, part-time role with OpenTrain AI.
Project window runs during East Coast hours from Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th.
Time expectation: 20+ hours per week.
Pay: $40 USD per hour.
What you'll do
Produce precise, well-formed SQL statements that correctly answer each of the 100 user queries using the provided database schema and data.
Work iteratively with the OpenTrain team: use the labeling tool, incorporate feedback, and refine queries until they are deemed gold-standard.
Translate each natural-language sports query into a correct SQL query that returns the requested results.
Use advanced SQL techniques where required (joins, aggregation, window functions, subqueries, CTEs, type casting, etc.).
Validate queries against the provided database and document assumptions or edge cases.
Record final queries in the labeling tool and respond to reviewer feedback promptly.
Requirements
The role requires a combination of SQL expertise and data-labeling experience. All requirements below are mandatory.
Native or highly fluent English speaker.
Expert in SQL, including advanced query constructs and query optimization.
Experience with data labeling or annotation workflows.
Familiarity with sports domain data is helpful since the queries relate to sports events.
Available for East Coast working hours during the project window (Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th).
Able to commit 20+ hours per week for the assignment.
Willing to work as a contractor (part-time).
Who should apply
Apply if you enjoy translating complex natural-language questions into exact database queries and can produce production-quality SQL quickly and reliably.
This role suits SQL specialists who have done annotation or QA work before and who can collaborate with reviewers and incorporate feedback during a short, intensive project.
SQL developers, data engineers, or analysts with hands-on labeling experience.
People who can document assumptions, edge cases, and test results clearly.
Professionals comfortable working remotely and coordinating with a team via the provided tooling.
How it works
If hired, OpenTrain AI will provide access to the database, the labeling tool, and the project team. You'll submit queries through the tool and iterate based on reviewer feedback until each query is approved as gold-standard.
OpenTrain manages contracting and pay; you'll be engaged as a contractor and paid $40/hr for the hours you log during the assignment.
Deliverables: 100 validated SQL queries mapped to their respective user queries.
Communication and iteration happen through the labeling tool and the project team.
This project is open worldwide; follow the East Coast schedule and availability constraints.
Lead SQL quality reviews for AI training: review AI-generated queries, schemas, and analytics reasoning, give clear written feedback, and maintain QA docs. Remote US contract, up to $70/hr, 20+ hours/week.
OpenTrain AI seeks a Senior Salesforce Developer SME in India (C1 English) to write coding prompts, evaluate AI responses, and refine model outputs—part-time contractor work at $24/hr (<20 hrs/week). Candidates must pass a live coding test and interview; dishonesty leads to permanent platform ban.
Design and implement realistic, end-to-end data science problems used to train and evaluate advanced AI systems. Senior quantitative candidates with 5+ years of hands-on data science, expert Python and strong SQL skills, paid $50/hr as a part-time contractor.
