The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Computational Mathematics AI Problem Designer to create and solve research-grade or graduate-level scientific problems using Python. You will combine mathematical research judgment, computational problem solving, and detailed quality review to produce reliable evaluation content.

The role requires at least 20 hours per week and is structured as part-time contract work. English is the working language, and applicants may be based worldwide.

What You'll Do

You will develop technically rigorous problems, solve them using sound mathematical and scientific principles, and help ensure that each problem and solution is accurate, reliable, and logically coherent. You will also contribute to structured classification and quality review.

  • Develop original research-grade or graduate-level computational mathematics problems
  • Use Python for scientific coding and computational problem solving
  • Define problem categories, secondary tags, and appropriate difficulty levels
  • Solve formulated problems and validate the mathematical and scientific reasoning
  • Review problem and solution accuracy, reliability, and logical coherence
  • Incorporate detailed feedback from reviewers and team leads
  • Improve clarity, correctness, and overall content quality

Requirements

This role requires advanced academic and technical expertise in computational mathematics. Candidates should be able to design, solve, and validate rigorous mathematical problems and communicate their reasoning clearly.

  • PhD or current PhD candidacy in computational mathematics
  • At least one published peer-reviewed paper
  • Advanced Python proficiency for scientific coding
  • Ability to design, solve, and validate graduate-level or research-grade scientific problems
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving ability
  • Clear written and verbal technical communication
  • Ability to incorporate detailed review feedback
