About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Clinical Publications AI Evaluation Author to support the development of AI-assisted tools for medical and scientific writing. You will create and review realistic evaluation tasks based on biomedical publication materials, assess AI-generated scientific content, verify claims against clinical source records, and provide structured feedback that improves model behavior. This is a remote contractor opportunity for a publication specialist whose judgment combines scientific accuracy, publication standards, and clear written reasoning.

What you will do
You will author and review evaluation tasks grounded in peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, scientific abstracts, conference posters, and presentation decks. You will assess AI-generated draft sections for alignment with publisher formatting standards, journal guidelines, and international publication ethics. You will evaluate scientific accuracy in manuscripts, abstracts, and discussion sections, distinguishing medical or data-interpretation errors from stylistic preferences. You will trace publication claims to Clinical Study Reports, protocols, and Tables, Figures, and Listings to confirm that narratives are supported by source data. You will write clear, structured rationales for assessments and help refine evaluation criteria and scientific publishing best practices.

Required skills
You should have at least five years of dedicated medical or scientific publication authoring experience in a sponsor, CRO, medical communications agency, or independent consulting setting. Direct experience lead-authoring or managing peer-reviewed biomedical or clinical manuscripts is required. You should have working knowledge of ICMJE, GPP3 or GPP2022, CONSORT, STROBE, copyright compliance, and journal submission workflows. You should be able to interpret clinical data, Tables, Figures, Listings, and statistical analysis plans and turn them into publication-ready narratives. Strong written communication and experience providing actionable, structured feedback on scientific drafts are essential.

Helpful background
An advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or medicine, such as a PhD, PharmD, MD, or MSc, is preferred, along with therapeutic-area experience across multiple clinical phases. Background in oncology, immunology, or rare diseases is especially valuable. Prior AI training experience is not required; the role depends on deep medical publication expertise and careful scientific judgment.
