About AI training and this project
AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare, record, and check the examples models learn from. Tasks include recording speech, transcribing audio, reviewing alignments, and rating responses — all of which directly shape how language-capable AI behaves.
This particular project collects and verifies Catalan speech recordings and transcriptions so future Catalan-enabled systems can understand and generate natural speech.
The role
You will work as a Catalan Speech AI Trainer on a part-time contractor basis, completing audio recording, transcription, and evaluation tasks. Work is remote but contributors must be located in Spain.
This role requires careful listening, strong written Catalan, and the ability to follow detailed English-language guidelines during qualification and ongoing tasks.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
Time commitment: Less than 20 hours/week (flexible)
Pay: $14–17 USD per hour (typical $15/hr)
What you'll do
Tasks vary by assignment and may include recording spoken Catalan, transcribing Catalan audio, reviewing audio-text alignment, and rating or evaluating existing speech data for quality and accuracy.
All work follows written project guidelines (provided in English) and may require using a web tool or other labeling software described during qualification.
Record short Catalan prompts or read scripts aloud with clear audio quality.
Transcribe Catalan speech accurately, including correct spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
Review audio-text alignment and flag mismatches or low-quality recordings.
Rate or evaluate speech samples against project quality standards.
Requirements
You must meet all location, language, and skill requirements to qualify for this project. During the qualification interview you will be asked to describe any prior Catalan language, transcription, audio, or language-related experience.
Access to a reliable internet connection and a suitable device for recording or transcribing audio is required.
Must currently be located in Spain.
Native Catalan speaker required.
English proficiency C1 or C2 (able to read and follow English guidelines).
Strong written Catalan skills: spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Experience with audio recording, transcription, speech data, or language annotation preferred.
Able to listen carefully to Catalan audio and evaluate quality.
Will need to describe prior relevant experience during a qualification interview.
Who should apply
This project is a great fit if you are a native Catalan speaker who reads and writes Catalan well, are comfortable working with audio, and can follow English instructions. It suits contributors seeking flexible, part-time contract work.
No specific technical tools are required beyond a device and internet access; previous transcription or speech-data experience increases your chances of qualifying.
Ideal for bilingual Catalan/English speakers living in Spain.
Good for people seeking flexible, remote part-time work under 20 hours/week.
Preferred experience: transcription, voice recording, language annotation, or related tasks.
Record ~500 short voice commands (~2 hours) on an Android phone and earn a fixed $51 payment; must be a native Spanish speaker with a European (Spain) accent and able to follow instructions in English. Task is remote and must be completed within 1 week.
Record high-quality Castilian Spanish voice samples for TTS model training and evaluation at $50/hr; part-time contract work (<20 hrs/week), remote for residents of Spain.
Short-term remote contract testing voice AI in Spanish (Spain): $38/hr for 3 weeks, 40 hrs/week. Must be native/near-native Spanish (Spain), understand English instructions, and own an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS Sequoia 15.0+.
