About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling, helping contributors discover projects, build a professional profile, and grow in a fast-moving industry shaping how AI systems are developed.

About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review examples, evaluate outputs, and create clear standards that help AI systems learn to perform specialized tasks reliably. In this project, your manufacturing expertise will help create a high-quality evaluation dataset for CNC machining.

  • Remote, text-based contract work
  • Part-time schedule of 20+ hours per week
  • Directly contribute to the development of specialized AI evaluation systems

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a CAM Programming Expert to author grading rubrics for Fusion 360 CAM programs. You will work with provided CAD models and machining context, including stock, machine, and tooling information, to define objective and verifiable standards for evaluating CAM solutions.

This role requires strong production judgment: you must be able to distinguish toolpaths that would run safely on a real machine from those that would not. All deliverables are text-based and must be written in fluent English.

  • Contractor position
  • Part-time engagement
  • 20+ hours per week
  • Hourly pay: $120–$175 USD
  • Subject matter: Fusion 360 CAM rubric authoring

What You'll Do

You will create structured evaluation materials and apply your CAM expertise to sample solutions. Each rubric should give reviewers objective criteria they can verify against the supplied machining scenario.

  • Author 10-criterion rubrics for grading Fusion 360 CAM programs.
  • Evaluate programs across provided CAD models and machining context, including stock, machine, and tooling.
  • Write clear verification rationale for every criterion.
  • Review sample CAM solutions and explain pass or fail outcomes.
  • Apply production machining standards and safety judgment when evaluating toolpaths.

Requirements

This position is listed at the entry level, while the project itself requires substantial hands-on professional experience. Applicants should meet the following technical and communication requirements.

  • Hands-on Fusion 360 CAM experience.
  • Access to an active Fusion 360 license.
  • Ability to program 4-axis and/or 5-axis CNC toolpaths.
  • At least 5 years of CAM programming experience.
  • Strong production judgment about what would and would not run safely on a real machine.
  • Fluent written English for text-based deliverables.

Helpful Background and Eligibility

Experience as a CAM instructor or teaching professional is helpful because the work involves explaining standards, verification logic, and evaluation outcomes clearly.

  • Eligible country codes: AL, AR, AU, AT, BD, BE, BA, BR, BG, CA, CL, CO, CR, HR, CY, CZ, DK, DO, EC, EG, EE, FI, FR, GE, DE, GH, GR, GT, HU, IN, ID, IE, IL, IT, JM, JP, KE, LV, LT, MY, MT, MX, MD, ME, MA, NP, NL, NZ, NG, NO, PK, PA, PE, PH, PL, PT, RO, SA, RS, SG, SK, SI, ZA.
  • Additional eligible country codes: KR, ES, LK, SE, CH, TW, TH, TR, UA, AE, GB, US, UY, VN.
  • English is the required working language.
