About AI Evaluation Work
AI training depends on carefully designed examples, expert reviews, and evaluations that show whether models can reason accurately. In this role, your biostatistical expertise will help assess AI systems against complex scientific scenarios rather than simplified textbook exercises.
Remote, flexible contractor work that can fit around other professional commitments.
Contribute directly to the development and evaluation of advanced AI systems.
Use specialized scientific knowledge in a growing area of technology.
The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Biostatistics AI Evaluation Expert to create demanding evaluation material for AI benchmarking and model training. You will transform realistic biostatistics practice into structured tasks involving clinical trial analysis, regulatory submission reviews, and observational study assessments.
The work centers on methodological rigor, defensible clinical interpretation, and detailed evaluation of how AI systems reason through complex scientific scenarios. This is contractor work with a variable workload and a stated time requirement of 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do
You will design expert-level evaluation content that reflects the depth and complexity of professional biostatistics. Deliverables should be clear, well documented, methodologically defensible, and aligned with applicable regulatory and scientific standards.
Design and author expert-level evaluation tasks based on real-world biostatistics challenges.
Source, construct, and curate authentic trial data, patient records, and protocol documents for task use.
Define correct methodological solutions and clinically defensible interpretations for each scenario.
Develop comprehensive rubrics containing 35 or more items to assess AI agent performance.
Ensure tasks represent professional biostatistical complexity rather than simplified textbook examples.
Align deliverables with applicable regulatory and scientific standards.
Required Qualifications
The listing identifies this opportunity as entry level, while the required qualifications call for advanced academic training and substantial professional experience. Applicants should review the requirements carefully before applying.
MS or PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or epidemiology.
At least four years of experience in pharmaceutical, contract research, hospital, or academic medical settings.
Strong command of clinical study design, regulatory documentation, and observational research methods.
Advanced proficiency in R, Python, SAS, or Stata applied to clinical or epidemiological datasets.
Excellent written communication and methodological attention to detail.
Strong clinical interpretation and regulatory judgment.
Ability to create defensible solutions and 35+ item evaluation rubrics.
Helpful Background
Experience preparing submission-ready materials for agencies such as the FDA or EMA is helpful. Familiarity with technical documentation and detailed grading rubric authoring will also support success in this role.
